The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 387

Chapter 387

Avery’s POV

The sun rose high and hot the next morning, bringing with it the sound of cicadas buzzing in the grass. and a warm steam rising from the dewy ground before eight o’clock even struck.

I had just finished my coffee and was preparing my things to head to Aldric’s clinic. Our trial was beginning there today, and I wanted to be present for the initial tests.

Bjorn, who was surprisingly already awake at this hour, came bounding down the stairs just as I was reaching for my purse in the hallway. He was still wearing his new sneakers. I honestly wasn’t even sure if he had taken them off last night to sleep.

“Where are you going?” he asked, hopping down the last two steps and skidding to a stop in front of me.

“Do you remember Alpha Aldric?” I asked. “When we went to his pack for that party?”

“Yeah…”

“Well, I’m going there today to give my medicine to some kids. I’ll be there all day, so don’t cause any trouble here, okay?” I said.

Bjorn looked at me. “Can I come with you?”

“I don’t know, Bjorn. I’ve got a lot of work to do today…”

“Pleaaaase?” Bjorn clasped his hands together and gave me those big puppy-dog eyes that almost never failed to make me cave in to any request. “I won’t get in the way or anything.”

I planted one hand on my hip. “Why do you want to come so badly? I’m gonna be working. It’ll be boring, and you’ll be trapped in the clinic all day. It’s so nice out, you’d be much happier staying here where you can be with your friends.”

Bjorn groaned like I had just told him he had to eat an entire head of broccoli, which he hated.

“I’m getting so bored here!” he complained.

“But you love it here.”

I finished off the rest of my tea and set the cup aside. A servant immediately came to take it away, and once they were gone, I looked at my father.

He was furious, of course. I couldn’t blame him; I was furious, 100.

Avery had been a thorn in my side since her sudden return. At first, I thought that Gideon would accept my proposal in exchange for information-that he would simply take her as a mistress, giving me the title of Luna.

But then he told me that he would never give me the title, and that it belonged to Avery and Avery alone.

This was getting to be more difficult than I initially expected,

“I’m trying,” I said, rising from my chair. “But he’s obsessed with her. He won’t listen to reason.”

My father narrowed his eyes at me. “Try harder, then. Your little scheme with the papers clearly wasn’t effective.”

“Printing out those expulsion records was the only thing I could think of in the moment,” I snapped back “I thought that if Gideon realized the kid is useless, he would give up his pursuit. But he didn’t react at all.”
