The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 460

“You have a garden center in Evergreen?”

“Just a small one.” He smiled. “That’s not the one I’m referring to, though. There’s a larger one in the neutral territory. It’s massive. They specialize in rare and medicinal plants for pack healers.”

I looked at him. “You think they would have what I need?”

“It’s worth a shot. And if they don’t, they can probably point you in the right direction.” He paused. “I can take you, if you want.”

I hesitated. Part of me wanted to say no, because accepting his offer might be taken the wrong way. But the truth was, I did need those supplies, and I was probably too exhausted to drive right now, and the clock was ticking.

“Alright,” I said. “Let me clean up first.”

Sebastian smiled. “I’ll have Colt bring the car around.”

The garden center was enormous.

It sprawled across several acres, divided into sections for different types of plants. There were greenhouses for tropical species, outdoor beds for native flora, and an entire building dedicated to medicinal herbs and compounds.

Sebastian had gone off to check out the small coffee stand at the front of the store, giving me some space to shop. I wandered through the aisles, pushing a cart that was already half-full of pots and seedlings. I’d found most of what I needed already, plus a few extras that might be useful later.

I was reaching for a bundle of dried lavender when I heard a familiar voice behind me.

“Avery.”

I froze.

Slowly, I turned around.

Gideon was standing at the end of the aisle, hands in his pockets.

“Gideon.” I straightened. “What are you doing here?”

“Shopping.” He gestured vaguely at the rows of plants around us. “Same as you, apparently.”

I narrowed my eyes. “You followed me.”

“I was in the area.”

“Right…”

My throat felt tight. I didn’t know what to say to that.

Before I could work out a response, Sebastian’s voice cut through the aisle.

“Avery?”

I turned. Sebastian was walking toward us. His expression darkened considerably the moment he saw Gideon standing there.

“Sebastian,” Gideon said rather pleasantly, which, again, s et me on edge. “Fancy seeing you here.”

“I could say the same,” Sebastian shot back.

Oh, brother.

Gideon’s smile widened a little. “I was just telling Avery that her old workspace in Nightwolf is still intact,” he said.

Sebastian’s jaw feathered.

“You should come see it,” Gideon said, turning to me. “I think you’d be surprised at what’s still there.”
