Chapter 150 Confronting Her Mother’s Destroyers
“When?”
“After I’m done with them.”
“I’ll help you move.”
He didn’t love the idea, but he respected her choice. His eyes soft, he kissed her forehead, grateful that there was one more person in the world who truly loved her.
Stella had spent most of her life alone. The thought of moving in with Jasper made her nervous, but excited too.
“Buzz.”
Her phone lit up with a message.
Tess sent, “Stella. Time to go.”
Stella felt a pull of reluctance. She wrapped her arms around his neck and brushed her lips against his.
“I have to go. Wait for me.”
She tried to pull away, but his hands–slender, strong–held her close. His kiss came down like a storm, fierce and consuming.
Everything he felt–the longing, the obsession–poured into that one kiss.
“Call me if anything happens. My people will be nearby.”
“Okay.”
She almost said no. But she knew he needed to hear her say yes.
Stella left Imperial Crest Towers.
“Stella. We’re ready to board.”
“Okay.”
She followed Tess onto the ship.
“Everything’s set.”
“Good.”
For the next few days, they stayed in their rooms.
Michelle finally let herself breathe. Days had passed. Nothing happened.
“Mom, see? Nothing’s going wrong.”

Amber had checked. Aside from them and the ship owner’s family, there was no one else on board.
“Mom. How much money do you actually have stashed in Rondol?”
Michelle looked at her useless daughter and didn’t even bother answering.
“Pay attention. Who’s in that room at the far end?”
“The ship owner’s family. Obviously.”
Michelle frowned. Her injuries weren’t healed. The trip was exhausting. And she was stuck with three women who had zero survival instincts.
They could take care of her, barely. That was it.
The last few days, something had been bothering her. This escape had gone too smoothly.
Those men–Jaron, the others–they just let her go? Just like that?
And the Nicole thing. Had no one actually figured it out?
“Mom, you’re being paranoid. Nothing’s going to happen. And about Nicole…”
Amber glanced around. Ruby and her daughter were out of earshot. She lowered her voice. “Everyone thinks Felix did it.
“He’s our scapegoat.”
She smiled, proud of herself, waiting for Michelle to say something. Michelle said nothing.
It made sense that Felix was too busy with his own mess to come after her. But Jaron? The rest of them? They beat her once and called it a day?
That didn’t sound right. Not for those bastards.
“Mom. Just rest.”
Amber felt dismissed and didn’t bother saying more,
Staring at her mother’s blank face was worse than staring at the ocean.
Truth be told, she was still bitter. To help her mother shoot that stupid commercial, she’d blown through a hundred million of her own money,
If she hadn’t done that, she could’ve taken that cash and run.
Days passed. Just as Michelle was finally starting to relax, the ship stopped. International waters.
“Mom, come out. Get some air. Look at the view–don’t just sit in that room all day.”
Michelle stared out at the endless ocean and sighed. Her whole life had been a chess game. And now? Ruined by some girl who barely had any life experience.

“Nice view, isn’t it?”
The voice hit them like ice water. They all spun around.
“Stella…”
The smile slid off Amber’s face. She stumbled back–if the railing hadn’t been there, she’d have gone overboard.
“What do you want?”
Michelle didn’t bother with pleasantries.
“You ruined my mother’s life. What do you think?”
“Where’s your proof?”
“Jane confessed. And your precious daughter? She admitted it too.”
Amber’s face went white.
“Y–you’re lying.”
‘Recognize this voice?”
The recording played. Amber’s own words, crystal clear. Michelle almost blacked out from rage.
‘Slap.”
She put everything she had into it.
‘You idiot. I spent my whole life being the smartest woman in this city. I made a name for myself. And I gave birth to you? A brainless waste of space? I should’ve drowned you the day you were born. Keeping you alive was the biggest mistake I ever made.”
