Chapter 19 Frustration of the Chase
His cold voice made the air around them drop several degrees.
He pushed through the crowd to the podium, focusing intently on the problem written there.
“What’s he doing up there?”
“What else? Solving the problem, duh.”
“Who knew the math department had such a drop–dead gorgeous guy?”
“Which class is he in? I’m gonna ask him out.”
“Me too!”
‘May the best person win–I’m joining the chase too.”
‘He’s just showing off. Bet he’ll make a fool of himself if he can’t solve it.”
‘How does he even look this hot solving a math problem?”
‘Why haven’t I seen him before? He’s breathtaking.”
Elias didn’t let the chatter bother him.
Dressed in a black trench coat, he had one hand in his pocket. With the other, he scribbled over a dozen ines of work effortlessly.
The skeptical murmurs faded away. More and more students fixed their eyes on him, transfixed.
The bell rang, and everyone hurried back to their seats.
As soon as Stella walked in, she saw the black–clad figure working at the blackboard.
Her beautiful eyes glanced at his solution casually, Gradually, a small smile tugged at her lips.
Elias suddenly stopped writing. He turned to face her, their eyes locking.
His eyes sparkled with amusement, his striking, chiseled face impossible to ignore.
Stella froze for just a second, then lifted her hand to applaud.
‘Does that mean he got it right?”
“Where did this guy come from? I had no idea Azure Peak University had such a genius.”
“He’s not just hot–he’s brilliant too. I think I’m in love.”
Elias stepped down from the podium. He passed by Stella, pausing for three seconds before returning to
his seat.

Stella went on with her class.
The content was dry, but those who were interested were all geniuses–they ate it up.
As for the ones who didn’t get it? They were completely lost.
The moment class ended, Stella left the room.
Elias rushed after her, but once again, he was stopped.

This time, besides girls asking for his Instagram, there were even guys wanting to discuss the problem with him. Elias refused them all, squeezed through the crowd, and chased after Stella–only to find she was already gone.
Elias felt frustrated.
Hadn’t she recognized him?
“Mr. Cross, you were looking for me?”
Hearing that voice, Elias spun around. There stood his savior, under the willow tree. Sunlight filtered through the leaves onto her, making her stunning beauty even more dazzling.
“Miss Shaw, can I get your Instagram? I have some math problems I’d like to discuss with you,” he said.
“I’m not interested in discussing problems with you. But I am interested in challenging you to a contest,” Stella replied.
Watching him solve that problem had jogged her memory–she remembered who he was now. Her eyes blazed with competitive fire, no hint of romantic interest in her gaze.
“I’m ready anytime,” Elias said.
Stella stared straight at him, as if trying to figure out his real reason for seeking her out.
“You saved me last time. I don’t like owing people favors. I’ll grant you one wish,” he offered.
“I was just passing by. It was a random act of kindness,” Stella said casually.
Her nonchalant attitude piqued Elias‘ curiosity.
He was Elias–one of the most powerful men in Azure Peak City.
Yet she’d brushed off his gratitude with such ease.
“Mr. Cross, do you have anything else to say?” Stella asked.
“I don’t owe anyone. I’ll do one thing for you. After that, we’ll be even,” he insisted.
As he spoke, an indescribable feeling stirred in Elias‘ chest. He couldn’t quite put a name to it.
Stella looked at him with cold, clear eyes. “In that case, I won’t hold back.”

“What do you want?”
“A promise from Mr. Cross is no small thing. I need time to think about it,” Stella said.
With that, she turned to leave.
“Wait, your Instagram,” Elias called out.
Stella hesitated for a moment, then gave him her Instagram handle.
She walked away.
Elias looked at her profile picture–it was a photo of a convent.
He was surprised. A young woman using such a picture? His interest in her grew even more.

“Excuse me! I’m Melody Foster, the campus queen from the foreign language department. Can I get your Instagram?” a girl asked, approaching him.
Elias knew he’d be coming back to Azure Peak University often. He didn’t want to deal with this kind of scene again. He said flatly, “I don’t have Instagram.”
He slipped his phone into his pocket as he walked away, his confident stride exuding charm.
Melody stared, speechless.
