Chapter 48 Stella Steals the Show
Finished
“If she doesn’t show, she’s breaking her word. Word gets around about that kind of thing, and the fallout just isn’t worth it. She’s not dumb enough to let that happen. We’ll give her a few more minutes.”
Jasmine gave a slight nod. She’d already planned to have Nirvana say a few words on stage.
And as for Stella–whether she owned up to pretending she was Nirvana or not–Jasmine was fully prepared to humiliate her.
The show was about to start.
“So where is she? Too chicken to show up?” Silas asked with a smirk.
Honestly, he was kind of hoping she’d come.
With all this pomp and circumstance, maybe she’d feel even an ounce of regret for walking away from
him.
“Relax. If she doesn’t show, I’ll have a few people from our class blow up her phone,” Jasmine said, flashing a smug smile.
Together, they made their way over to Julian and the rest of the professors. “Really appreciate you all coming tonight.”
They exchanged a few pleasantries.
Then Jasmine asked, as casually as she could, “So, did Miss Shaw not make it after all?”
At that, everyone’s expression shifted just slightly.
They all knew the history between Jasmine and Stella. Inviting her was clearly just a power move–a chance to flaunt this extravagant engagement in her face.
“She’ll be here,” Julian said with quiet confidence.
Stella always kept her promises. He was just waiting for things to get interesting.
“Funny, I never pegged Miss Shaw as someone with such terrible time management,” Jasmine said with a smirk.
If Stella had the nerve to call off an engagement live on camera, then Jasmine was more than happy to stream her own engagement–right to every social media feed out there–and make sure Stella regretted ever walking away.
With Iris headlining and Nirvana making her very first public appearance, this night was going to be unforgettable..
Stella was going to seriously regret calling things off.
“Hey Silas, what time is Iris getting here?” someone from the crowd asked impatiently.
9:43 am Pppp.

Silas glanced at his watch and frowned slightly. “Six on the dot. She’s performing the song I commissioned from Nirvana–lyrics and music, the whole package. Cost me a pretty penny too.”
“Ten more minutes.”
“Can’t wait!”
“So is Nirvana actually showing up tonight?”
“What do you think she looks like? Bet she’s gorgeous.”
“I’m picturing more of a quiet intellectual type. Artsy.”
“Let’s grab a good spot. First one to post clips wins the internet tonight.”
Jasmine watched the scene unfold and felt a flicker of irritation.
This was supposed to be her night, but everyone seemed way more hyped about Iris and Nirvana.
“So, Miss Shaw? She said she’d come. What’s the hold–up?”
At Jasmine’s prodding, the attention shifted back to Stella.
Plenty of people watching the livestream thought Jasmine was being a little extra.
Given their history, why would she even want her fiancée’s ex at her engagement party?
“I’ve let go of the past. You’d think Miss Shaw could do the same. Unless she’s holding a grudge?”
“Wow, Jasmine. You really can’t go two sentences without mentioning me, can you?”
Heads turned toward the entrance.
Stella stepped into the room in a sleek black gown, her hair swept back in a soft updo. She moved like a black swan–graceful, poised, completely unbothered.
The light hit the crystals on her dress just right, making her shine like the brightest star in the night sky. Striking, but understated.
Her already stunning features were subtly enhanced with makeup. She looked like she’d just stepped out of a dream.
For a moment, the room went quiet. The livestream chat exploded.
[User101: Wait, WAIT. That’s STELLA?? She’s literally glowing??]
[User102: Remember when she called off that engagement on camera? Yeah. She’s THAT girl.]
[User103: Okay I expected some math genius in glasses and a cardigan but she’s actually insane??]
[User104: I’m just here for the drama but wow she ATE.]
Jasmine smiled politely, but inside she was fuming.
):43 am Pppp.
