Chapter 189

Chapter 189

ARIA’S POV

The gentle morning sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains of the bedroom, warm and bright against my

eyes.

I moved slowly, a soft groan escaping my lips as the lingering ache between my thighs reminded me vividly of the passionate night Brandon and I had shared right here in the dark.

As I woke up fully, the first thing I noticed was the absolute emptiness beside me. I shifted, reaching a hand out over the mattress, but the sheets on Brandon’s side were already completely cold.

Just as I was about to sit up, a burst of cheerful, loud voices drifted up the grand staircase, echoing all the way from the kitchen downstairs. I paused, listening intently.

It was Saturday, which meant Amelia’s nanny wouldn’t be coming in today, and I had absolutely no plans to go to the office. We were supposed to have a quiet, slow weekend morning.

My curiosity got the better of me as I slid out from under the heavy covers and pulled on my silk night gown. The floorboards were cool beneath my bare feet as I quietly walked out of the bedroom and made my way down the hallway.

The closer I got to the kitchen, the clearer the sounds became. Amelia’s soft, distinct giggles filled the air, cutting right through the quiet of the house. When I finally rounded the corner and stood at the entrance of the kitchen, the sight I saw instantly warmed my heart.

Brandon was standing in front of the stove, completely busy with his task. He was wearing a simple kitchen apron over a pair of casual shorts, his broad, muscled back moving as he expertly flipped pancakes in a sizzling pan.

I had to suppress a small smile, remembering that he had come straight to my house from the airport the night before with his luggage. He looked entirely out of place in his high-powered corporate aura, yet completely at home in my kitchen.

Amelia was perched high up on one of the breakfast bar stools, her small legs swinging back and forth happily.

She was in the middle of a breathless, excited story, moving her little hands around as she told him absolutely everything about her new friends at school and the new nanny I had recently gotten to help out around the

house.

Brandon was all ears. He didn’t look distracted for even a single second. He kept his dark eyes fixed on her, smiling gently and nodding along as the little girl chatted over and over again, barely pausing to take a breath. Suddenly, Amelia leaned forward across the counter, balancing on her tiptoes, and planted a sweet, messy kiss right on his cheek. “You’re my Superman, Uncle Brandon,” she announced loudly, her eyes shining with pure adoration.

Brandon paused mid-motion, the spatula hovering over the pan. He looked up at her, a look of deep warmth softening his rugged features. “Oh, really?” he asked, his voice deep and incredibly tender. “And why am I your Superman, sweetheart?”

Amelia smiled brightly, her voice full of absolute certainty. “Because you love us, and you will always save her. You always save Mamma and me.”

My breath caught in my throat. My heart clenched violently in my chest as I looked at Brandon’s face. For a fleeting second, a wave of intense, raw emotion washed over his features-a mixture of fierce protectiveness, humility, and a deep devotion that shook him to his core.

There were so many emotions running through his face at that exact moment. He slowly lowered the spatula, reached out, and pulled Amelia into a brief, tight hug, kissing her forehead gently.

“You’re exactly right, Amelia,” Brandon whi

of absolute certainty. “I will always,

always protect you. Both of you. I promise.”

I stood frozen at the doorway, a lump forming in my throat as I watched the unbreakable bond between them. Just then, Brandon shifted his gaze and finally noticed me standing there..

“Mamma!” Amelia gasped, spotting me a second later. She scrambled down from the bar stool with quick steps and ran straight into my arms, wrapping her limbs around my waist.

“Uncle Brandon and I didn’t want to disturb your sleep. We were trying to be super quiet.”

I chuckled softly, burying my face in her hair as I hugged her tight. “I can see that, sweetie. You two are doing a wonderful job.” I lifted my head, my eyes locking directly with Brandon’s across the kitchen counter.

The moment our eyes met, a massive flood of memories from what happened the night before rushed into my face.

The explicit images of his hands on my skin, his deep growls in my ear, and the intense way he had made me come separate times flashed behind my eyelids. A hot blush crept up my neck, completely heating my face. Brandon noticed it instantly. A dangerous, incredibly handsome smirk slowly spread across his lips, his dark eyes darkening with absolute amusement.

I cleared my throat, trying desperately to regain my normal composure as I walked over to the counter. “Good morning,” I said slowly, my voice a little lower than usual.

“Good morning, beautiful,” Brandon replied smoothly, his eyes tracing my face before returning to my eyes. He leaned against the counter, his smirk widening. “How was your night? Did you sleep well?”

The hidden meaning in his smooth tone made my blush deepen even further. I practically burned under his gaze.

Amelia looked back and forth between the two of us, her brow furrowing in complete confusion as she noticed my expression. “Mamma, why is your face all red? Are you sick?”

“No, no, sweetheart,” I stammered quickly, frantically coming up with a believable excuse to save myself from total embarrassment. “It’s just the kitchen is really warm from the stove, sweetie. The heat from the pancakes is just making me a little flushed.”

Brandon let out a low, deep laugh, the sound vibrating in his chest as he shook his head. He didn’t tease me further, much to my immense relief.

Instead, he plated a large, steaming stack of fluffy golden pancakes and carried them over to the dining table alongside some fresh fruit and juice.

As we all sat down and began eating, the tension in my stomach began to ease. Brandon took a sip of his coffee, looking over at me with a thoughtful expression. “I was thinking we should do something special today. I want to take you both out for a really nice dinner tonight.”

I paused, my fork hovering over my plate. Given the looming shadow of the Vance custody filing, the last thing I wanted to do was appear in public where people could see us. “Brandon, I don’t know…with everything going on right now, maybe staying in would be safer. I don’t really want to be out in the open.”

“You don’t have to worry about a single thing, Aria,” Brandon cut in smoothly, reaching across the table to capture my gaze. “I already took care of it. I booked the entire restaurant for us for the whole evening. It will be completely private. Just you, me, and Amelia.”

I blinked in surprise, stunned by his thoroughness. A soft, grateful sigh escaped my lips. “Okay. If it’s completely private, then thank you. I’d love that.”
