The silver in my system makes me more tired than ever before. My mind’s urges to fight are all ignored by my body. I’m too exhausted to breathe, much less try to escape. Unfortunately, all hat’s left for me to do is accept my fate.
Landing in Ray’s hands isn’t something I ever saw coming. Deep down, right beneath all the anger and fear that have become a part of me since all of this happened, I’m terrified of what he’ll do to me. No doubt he’ll want to bring all his sick fantasies to life and finish what he started the other day.
This time, I’ll be all alone.
Only I’ll be able to save myself.
With this amount of silver in my system, I don’t think I’ll be able to fight back.
These thoughts are pushed to the back of my mind as the car slows to a stop. Moments later, the trunk is opened and I’m dragged out, not by Ray, but by one of the men who was accompanying him.
One man is enough to drag me all the way inside the pack house. It’s enormous with three floors, and all the lights are on. I thought I’d be taken to the cellar or a dungeon or something, but he’s carrying me inside the house. The room I’m locked into is on the ground floor, just down a short, dark corridor.
As I’m dropped on the ground, I have to feel my way toward the nearest wall. The room is pitch black and I don’t trust myself to stand right now. My legs are tingling from not being able to stretch them for hours and my whole body is sore and taking longer to recover.
Five minutes later, the door opens and the light is turned on. I blink a few times while my eyes adjust to the glare, and see Ray standing in the doorway.
The look on his face is cruel.
“Aria,” he begins, “we meet again.”
I want to curse him, but I don’t have the strength to speak. I can barely keep my head up to look at him. He steps toward me again. My gaze lands on his sneakers. He continues. “You don’t know how happy I am that we managed to secure this deal with Ironclaw. You’re mine now. Mine to do whatever I want to. paid a high amount for you, too, so don’t think that I won’t make the most of this. The war was called off, too. Now, our packs are at peace once more.”
His words disgust me, and I’d throw up if my stomach wasn’t so empty.
He crouches beside me and before I know it, he’s forcing me to look up at him by pinching my chin between his fingers. His eyes study my face, taking in every feature. “Little Nocturn. I’ll have fun playing with you. You know, I always knew there was something special about you. I didn’t know you were part of an illegal breed of wolves, but there was always something that drew me to you like a moth to a flame.”
I try to tear my face out of his grip when he starts caressing it, but his hold on me tightens.
“It wasn’t just because of Ryder Drexel and his envy of me,” he claims, smiling in a way that makes the scar on his face twist in an ugly way. “It was so much more than that. If you were smarter, you would have chosen me and not him.”
“F…uck. You.”
Ray smiles at my little outburst. “It’s forbidden to do that now, since you’re a Nocturn and I can’t risk getting you pregnant, but thanks for the offer. I’ll try to keep my hands off you. I don’t know if I’ll succeed, but…..”

He releases me and my front hits the ground hard. I cough a little while trying to shift into a more comfortable position.
“Alpha Drexel and I made a deal,” he claims. “I get to play with you for as long as I can and when I get bored enough, I can kill you. Nobody will bat an eye. The downside of this is that it keeps his son alive. As you well know, Ryder took this from me.”
He raises his arm, removes the black leather glove from his hand and shows me the stump. The sight makes me happier than anything in the world.
“I’ve been wanting him dead ever since, and I’m told you’re bound to him. Cute. That means if you die, he dies. And if he dies, you die. Well, it sucks that I’ll have to get rid of you quickly. But don’t worry, we’ll have our fun. I promise.”
He walks out of the room and I try to calm my racing mind. I let the thought of Ryder still being alive reassure me and hold onto the fact that I’m a Nocturn, so he can’t touch me. I can handle anything else, but not his touch.
If Ryder hadn’t erased his touch from my skin so thoroughly that day, I don’t know what would’ve become of me.
