"Yeah, he's with me right now," Sophia quickly replied to the message.

Brandon looked up from his coffee. "Who?"

"Kent," Sophia said, turning her phone screen toward him. "He's asking if I’m joining you for the company gala tonight."

Brandon glanced at the screen, then back at her. "So, are you coming?"

Sophia hesitated, shaking her head slightly. "I haven't thought about it yet."

She then asked, a bit worried, "Is it a big fancy thing? Like one of those formal dinners?"

Brandon seemed to ponder for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, it's a formal dinner. The Starlight Group's gala is a mix of year-end relaxation for the staff and a chance to mingle with important clients. It's all about networking, so it’s more of a buffet-style event."

Sophia frowned, a bit conflicted. "If I go with you, won’t we just be the center of attention?"

Walking alongside Brandon would be like walking with a spotlight; all eyes would be on them wherever they went.

Brandon chuckled. "Are you scared?"

He rarely attended public events, and when he did, it was solo. He’d show up, fulfill his obligations, and leave promptly, so he’d never thought of bringing her along.
