The relentless string of misfortune fate had chained her to instantly vanished.
Joseph completely understood her overwhelming relief. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he pulled her into his arms, softly coaxing and soothing her while his own eyes grew red and damp.
"Alright, don't cry... From now on, we are a perfectly happy family of five. Misfortune will never touch us again."
"Yeah," Vivica nodded, trembling against his chest. "Honey, thank you. Thank you for giving me a complete family and a perfect love."
Joseph looked down at her with a gentle, incredibly indulgent smile.
"You silly woman. You were the one who went through the agonizing pain of childbirth. You're clearly the one who gave me a happy family. Why are you thanking me?"
It was the absolute truth.
But Vivica always carried a heart full of gratitude.
"Because if I hadn't met you, and if you hadn't fallen in love with me, I would never have had the chance to save Chaim, nor the chance to be the mother of three children."
She finished her thought earnestly, her tone filled with absolute certainty. "So, I'm the one who should be thanking you."
As they were going back and forth expressing their mutual gratitude, the hospital room door swung open. Harvey Murphy and Quintina Christie walked in together.
"Seriously, are you two always this cheesy when no one's around? 'Thank you for this,' 'Thank you for that'—it's all just fluff," Harvey immediately started roasting them the second he stepped inside.
Quintina shot him a glare. "Sounds to me like you're just jealous."
"Hah! What's there to be jealous of? You're an OB/GYN, don't you know how exhausting taking care of kids is? Plus, they had two at once. Just feeding them every day is going to drive someone insane."
Harvey's tongue was as sharp as ever, but he was actually stating a solid fact.
Even though they had already hired three top-tier maternity nurses who were just waiting to officially start the moment the twins went home, Vivica was determined to breastfeed. So, while the nurses could handle everything else, the late-night feedings still fell squarely on the mother.
Hearing this, Joseph shot his best friend an icy sideways glance. "If you don't know how to speak nicely, get out before I make you."
"..." Harvey froze for a second before flashing a grin, quickly shifting his tune. "Hey, I admitted I was jealous! I'm just running my mouth to cope."
Quintina sneered. "Coward."
Harvey shot her a dirty look.
Watching their dynamic, Vivica felt they looked exactly like an old bickering couple. Her matchmaking instincts flared up again.
"You two bicker all day long, and there are still no sparks flying between you?" she teased.
Quintina rolled her eyes at Harvey. "With him? My standards aren't that low."
"My standards are the high ones. Besides, don't you know the rule about not dating within your social circle?" Harvey fired back, completely unwilling to lose ground.
Seeing his best friend act so stubbornly, Joseph offered a faint, unhurried smile. "I look forward to watching you eat your words. Someday, you're going to realize your social circle holds the best catch of all."
"What nonsense are you talking about?!" Harvey squawked.
