Morix Sable’s boot-licking smile froze. Then his face went blood-red.

His nostrils flared like a bull about to charge.

He slowly turned toward the security supervisor and his team, his glare sharp enough to peel skin.

“You absolute idiots, Do you know who you just offended?” he growled.

Snark!

His hands connected on the supervisor's face sending him to the ground.

"Please forgive me Sir, we didn't..."

“You’re all fired. Get the hell out of my sight.”

The men stood stunned.

“I said scram!” Morix barked, taking a heavy step forward. The men scattered like rats, scrambling away with their tails between their legs.

Without missing a beat, he turned back to Jaden. The fawning smile returned like a mask being slapped back on.

“Please, Sir. This way.”

Jaden’s eyes dropped to his feet.

“You might want to put on your shoes first,” he said flatly.

Morix blinked, looked down, and froze.

His bare feet stared back at him.

He’d charged out so fast he hadn’t even noticed. Reality hit him like a slap.

His secretary caught up and immediately knelt, slipping the shoes onto his feet like it was a sacred ritual.

Morix cleared his throat, lips twitching with awkwardness. “Apologies for the scene, Sir. Right this way.”

Morix paused, then beamed like it was the best news he’d heard all day.

“Ah! You enjoy a more open, relaxed environment—of course. Let me arrange the best table by the window. You’ll have a lovely view of the plaza fountain.”

“That works,” Jaden nodded.

They were seated at a table draped in silk linens, set with silverware that probably cost more than their old apartment rent.

Morix stood beside the table, waiting like a personal butler. He waved his hand, and a waiter rushed over with the menu.

Morix didn’t hand it over. He opened it himself and offered it to Jaden like a ceremonial scroll.

“I’ll take your order personally, Sir.”

Selena leaned closer for a peek. Then froze.

Her breath caught as her eyes skimmed the prices.
