The King Of War Returns (Jaden Rift) novel Chapter 46

"That should’ve been the first thing you asked," Jaden said with a smirk, his tone calm but his eyes cold.

Baron clenched his fists, veins visible on his neck. “Just because you’re a powerful fighter doesn’t mean you’re untouchable. I’ve got men that’ll rip you apart.”

“Oh?” Jaden leaned forward slightly. “So you still got tricks up your sleeve?”

Baron roared, “All of you, come out!”

A hidden door creaked open from the side of the hall. Ten men stepped out, one after another, each of them dressed in dark combat gear. Unlike the fodder from earlier, these men moved with trained precision. Their presence alone shifted the air. The aura around them surged, pressing down like an invisible storm.

Jaden cocked his head. “At least Class B warriors. Not bad.”

Baron stepped back with a twisted smile. “Let’s see how cocky you are after this. Kill him!”

Before Jaden could move, Drax stepped forward and cracked his knuckles. “Boss, mind if I handle this?”

Jaden leaned back in the chair and picked up a wine bottle. “Go ahead.”

Drax charged without hesitation, his footwork thundering across the floor. The first warrior lunged with a blade, but Drax grabbed the man’s arm mid-swing and crushed it with a single squeeze. The bone snapped like dry wood. He lifted the man by the neck and flung him into two others, smashing them into the wall.

Another tried to sneak from behind, but Drax ducked low, swept his legs, and delivered an elbow to the chest, sending him flying like a ragdoll. Drax was a class S warrior these men were no match for him.

The room echoed with grunts, crashes, and the sickening crunch of bones. Within seconds, the elite warriors were sprawled across the floor—unconscious, broken, groaning in pain or already dead.

Jaden poured himself a glass of wine. “Now, where were we?”

Baron’s face was pale. He was sweating like a man about to drown. “What… what do you want?”

Jaden’s smile disappeared. He stood slowly and stared down at Baron with eyes like ice. “You tormented my family for years. You sent men to bring my sister to you. Planning to force her? Hurt her? And now you ask me what I want?”

Jaden’s voice dropped to a cold whisper. “I want you dead.”

Baron’s hand trembled as he pointed at Jaden. “Y-You can’t just kill me! Do you know who my family is? If my father finds out—”

Shhk!

Before he could finish, Jaden flicked his finger. A thin, glowing arc of energy flashed through the air and sliced clean through Baron’s wrist.

“AAAHHHH!” Baron screamed, staring in horror as his severed hand hit the floor with a thud, blood spraying across the marble tiles.

“You bastard!” he howled. “GUARDS! KILL HIM!”

But no one came. Baron looked around and saw only bodies.

“No one’s here to save your ass,” Drax said, walking up and stomping one of the remaining men unconscious.

Jaden stepped forward. “Now… tell me, Baron. How do you want to die?”

Baron gritted his teeth through the pain, trying to stay conscious. His lips curled into a sick smile. “You… You kill me, and your sister and girlfriend die too. They’re already in our hands.”

Jaden froze. His heart dropped—but only for a second. His hand shot to his pocket.

“Drax! Call Julie now!”

A private underground club lit by red lights and buzzing with murmured deals. Hidden from the world above, it was a den for crime, trafficking, and corruption. Drug lords, arms dealers, and politicians mingled with fake smiles and blood-stained hands.

Inside a lavish VIP room, Rafael Mendez sat on a leather couch, a Cuban cigar between his fingers. His face was covered in skull tattoos, gold chains around his neck. Half-naked girls danced around him while vicious-looking guards lined the walls behind.

The doors opened.

A group of masked men walked in carrying large sacks.

“Boss, we got them,” said Robert, wiping blood off his knife.

Rafael blew out smoke. “Heh. Baron better double the payment for this. Let me see the goods.”

The men tore open the sacks.

Julie and Hannah were revealed, tied up, their eyes wide with fear, tape on their mouths. Both of them were bruised, but alive.

Rafael’s eyes lit up. “Damn... Baron’s got taste. These girls are worth a fortune. Maybe I’ll keep one.”

His phone rang.

He looked at the screen and grinned.

“Speak of the devil.” He answered with a chuckle.

“Baron?” he said, laughing.
