The King Of War Returns (Jaden Rift) novel Chapter 59

"You're finished. You’re guilty of murdering my men! I’ve already called the police. Your sorry ass is in serious trouble!" the manager growled, struggling to his feet, blood trickling from a cut above his brow.

Jaden didn’t flinch. He stood there, hands in his pockets, calm as still water.

"No one in this world can arrest me," he replied flatly, like it was a universal truth.

"You won’t be so cocky when you’re rotting in a jail cell," the manager spat. "You'll be screaming for mercy before the week ends."

Jaden let out a quiet scoff and stepped forward slowly, the floor creaking beneath his weight. His eyes narrowed.

"You're confident. I like that," he said with a faint smirk. "Fine. I’ll wait. Call whoever you want."

The manager stared at him, momentarily thrown off by how relaxed Jaden was acting.

Fifteen minutes later, red-and-blue lights flickered outside the boutique. Several police officers entered with a woman at the center, her badge shining on her jacket. She was tall, sharp-featured, and carried an air of command like a second skin.

She stopped at the entrance, eyes sweeping across the broken shelves and unconscious bodies.

"Who called the police?" her voice rang out, calm but firm.

The manager stepped forward quickly, adjusting his torn collar and putting on a pitiful expression.

"I did! Officer, I’m a close friend of Police Chief Anthony! These two delinquents stormed into my boutique, beat up my staff, wrecked my property, and robbed me of five million dollars!" he said, jabbing his finger toward Jaden and Julie.

"I demand justice! Arrest them immediately!"

The policewoman blinked slowly, unfazed. "I’ll be the one to determine what justice looks like today. First, I’m checking the security footage."

The manager's expression cracked. His grin twitched.

"What? N-no need for that, ma'am! I just told you what happened!"

"And I just told you I’ll verify it myself," she replied coolly, already walking toward the security system at the corner.

Sweat gathered on the manager’s forehead. His fingers twitched nervously. In a panic, he fumbled for his phone and speed-dialed.

"Wait! Wait, please, let me call Chief Anthony!" he pleaded.

"He’ll explain everything. I’m sure once you speak to him, you’ll understand how close we are!"

The woman raised an eyebrow, arms folded, as the call connected.

"Oh! Nothing serious. Just a misunderstanding. Someone said they knew me—I guess they didn’t. Please ignore it. I apologize for disturbing you..."

The line went dead.

The woman casually tossed the phone back at the stunned manager.

"Looks like Anthony doesn’t even know who you are," she said, dusting off her hands.

The boutique fell silent.

The manager’s hands trembled. His voice cracked.

"Y-you’re the... Chief?"

"I am." Her eyes sharpened. "And I don't take kindly to liars, extortionists, or lowlifes pretending to be connected. Now, let me tell you what I do respect..."

She turned to her officers. "Check the footage. I want everything recorded from the past thirty minutes. Also, bring medics. Some of these men are barely conscious."

The manager staggered back.
