"How about this—" Mr. Harrison raised his key with a confident grin. “Take my car. I just made a couple of calls. You'll be at the Music Plaza in five minutes flat.”
Clara and Hannah exchanged uncertain glances. Hannah narrowed her eyes slightly, obviously hesitant. Clara, meanwhile, folded her arms, lips pursed in consideration.
Before either of them could respond, the low hum of a sleek black car approaching caught their attention. It slid to a stop just behind them. The passenger door opened—and Jaden stepped out, tall and relaxed, with Drax following closely behind.
“Jaden!” Hannah’s eyes lit up. Without hesitation, she dashed toward him and threw her arms around him. “I finally found you!” Her voice brimmed with relief and delight.
She pulled back just slightly, smiling up at him. “I wanted to properly apologize about what happened at my birthday. Stanwell… he was completely out of line.”
Jaden gave her a faint nod, his voice calm. “It’s alright. I already handled it.”
Behind them, Harrison’s face twisted the moment he recognized Jaden. His eyes narrowed, his mouth curling in contempt.
“Wait a damn minute…” he muttered, stepping forward. “So you're the arrogant bastard I've been hearing about?” he jabbed a finger at Jaden, his voice sharp. “Julie’s brother?”
Jaden didn’t even look at him.
He turned to Julie instead. “You’re headed to the Music Plaza?”
Julie rolled her eyes dramatically. “Of course. It was supposed to be the one weekend I could chill and enjoy some live music. But nope. Four roads blocked. Traffic like a parade. Whole damn city’s in lockdown.” She crossed her arms with a sigh. “Now I hear the plaza’s sealed off.”
Clara scoffed. “Come on, Hannah. Let’s go.”
She grabbed Hannah by the arm and led her toward Harrison.
“I think it’s better if we take Mr. Harrison’s car. At least he’s not pretending to be James Bond with a sky pass.”
Harrison, now puffed up like a rooster, clapped once in delight. “It’s an honor, truly, to escort two beautiful and educated ladies. Unlike some people—” he threw Jaden a pointed look “—I don’t need to call in aircrafts to feel important.”
He chuckled to himself. “Because of traffic, you want a special plane? Don’t make me laugh, kid.” he laughed out loud.
