Chapter 113
Chapter 113
NARRATOR
That morning, the pack bells began to ring hard.
They rang for mourning. And for summons.
The old Alpha was dead, but there wasn’t much time to weep over his body.
The main hall filled with the leading families. Every one of them had received the same invitation.
The new Alpha would be chosen from among them.
This time, there would be no brutal fight, no pounding on chests like in the old days. This pack had survived not becausent was the strongest, but because it was the most prosperous.
The candidate families all controlled some part of the economy within these borders, one way or another, and the favorite as everyone knew, was the LookWood family.
So Lucio put on his finest clothes. His mother came with him, chin high, already seeing herself as the next Alpha’s mother.
Seated in the front rows, they looked toward the back of the hall, where the long table of the Council of Elders faced them.
Lucio could feel every gaze on him. Now more than ever, he was glad his father wasn’t there.
His father was a merchant who liked traveling more than staying in the pack. Maybe if they offered him the Alpha position,
he’d decide to settle down.
But it was too late for that.
With his father absent and his useless brother out of the game, maybe even dead from the beating by now, victory was his.
Behind the discreet curtains at the back of the hall, inside a small servants’ room, Isidora watched him with sharp eyes.
Her fists trembled with rage, but she would hold herself back. Of course she would.
Because today was her day to shine. Her day to stand above him.
Isidora waited with a coldness she hadn’t known she had.
Her eyes shifted toward the back seats, the quiet, discreet ones, where the people sitting there looked like simple spectators.
Lucio had an erection in his pants, already believing himself Alpha, without knowing his strongest rival was in the room.
Isidora hadn’t slept, but every sleepless hour had been worth it.
Still, something unsettled her… Where was Blaze?
She looked back toward the dark hallway that led to a small side service door.
He had told her he was going to check for a moment on those thugs who worked for him, the ones watching Lady Stephanie’s servant.
Isidora knew it was important. That woman couldn’t escape. She was next on her list.
Still, she frowned. Why did it feel like Blaze was acting a little mysterious?
13:01 Fri, Jul 3.

She sighed and focused on the hall again. The selection had begun, and every candidate was showing his cards.
55 vouchers
Blaze had, in fact, gone to check on those men, who were turning out to be more efficient than some of his best warriors.
“When she’s discharged today, follow her and take her to that discreet place you told me about. I want it clean and done right. If anyone recognizes you, you’ll be the ones losing your heads.”
Blaze told them that half-hidden in the alley across from the healer’s place.
The burly men nodded so fast they looked like chickens pecking at grain. Goddess… they hadn’t slept since meeting that huge tyrant.
Was he going to stay and live in the pack?
Because just thinking about it had them sweating and wanting to turn rogue.
But Blaze had no intention of staying anywhere. His only goal was to make things easier for his mate in silence.
