Chapter 114
NARRATOR
The whole room suddenly boiled over with whispers.

“Efrain, what is the meaning of this? Sit down. You’re embarrassing our family!” Lucio’s mother shot to her feet, outraged.
She had put up with too many years of abandonment from a husband who was almost never home. She wasn’t about to let the son of his first wife come in now and take anything away from her Lucio.
“Why should I sit down? Didn’t they choose my family as the candidate for the Alpha position?”
“They chose your brother, not you, you shameless brat!”
“Mom…” Lucio raised one hand to stop the scene.
He looked at his brother with a calm that only seemed real, while inside, every alarm in him was going off.
A few bruises showed, yes, but they were superficial. Too superficial. Those useless goons had failed him again!
“Council Elders….” Lucio didn’t even speak to Efrain, who was staring straight through him. “Even though my brother is the oldest son in the family. I believe everyone here knows he left the house.”
And then he started spilling every drop of his poison.
“My father didn’t consider him worthy of running the family business. That’s why he never included him in his plans. In his absence, I’m the one who makes every decision.”
“That isn’t true…” Efrain took a step forward, cutting him off.
Lucio’s fists clenched hard.
“My father trusted me completely. We developed the formula for our main product together. It’s just that everyone knows my father was a man focused on business,” Efrain said, bitterness roughening his voice.
“He left the matters of the house in his wife’s hands and believed everything was fine, when everyone in this pack knows it
wasn’t.”
He looked at the Elders. Then at the rest of the room.
No one there was an outsider. Everyone knew that when Efrain’s mother died, the new lady of the house hadn’t taken long to step into her place, bringing along a son barely a year younger.
It was obvious that before she became his wife, she had been his mistress.
“You damned bastard, I swear…”
“The only bastard here is you, Lucio.” Efrain raised his voice, cutting over his brother’s hissed insult.
They stared at each other with a hatred so visceral it almost had a body of its own.
“I’m the legitimate heir of the LookWood family, and I demand the Alpha position.”
