It was as if my mind dragged me back to that day when I heard her talking to her squire about setting me up as part of her plan to defeat Marion.
Rage ran through me like boiling lava, but I knew she hated me too.
For taking away her rigged victory and making her look ridiculous with my power.
It seemed they had believed I had left the Estingia Tower, or maybe they hadn’t been able to reach me for revenge because I had been inside the Dark Estingias’ area.
“Lady… Lady Stephanie,” one of the elders recognized her. It seemed she had come here before.
“I believe age is starting to affect your judgment a little, Council Elders,” she said arrogantly, despite the stern faces of those wolves.
“Are you letting yourselves be intimidated by any novice Estingia with no backing?” She pointed at me with a sarcastic huff.
“Not long ago, this woman was nothing more than the one cleaning latrines in the servants’ area, Lady Marion’s maid,” she added with a laugh full of contempt.
The crowd began murmuring, and I saw their faces filled with poorly hidden mockery, looking down on me.
Damn it.
“And yet, right now, I hold the same category as you. Or are you not still a novice Estingia too, despite all your dirty little plans?” I answered, matching her arrogance.
I had sworn I would never let myself be intimidated by abusive women like her again.
“You!”
“Me, nothing!” I cut her off, letting my aura slip out. “We’re talking about the Alpha position here, not your complaints against me or my past. Or have I brought up the fact that I almost killed you, even without backing and without all your training?”
I let my venom spill too, watching her face turn red as she shot a murderous look at the people whispering around her.
Her pupils turned wolfish, and her white Estingia mantle began to rise from her body like mist. Still, she kept a careful distance from my red power.
She remembered.
I could smell her caution and her fear.
The fear I had planted in her when I manipulated those she-wolves and nearly had them tear her apart.
She had no idea I was capable of much more now.
“I see you’re determined to fight me, but this time won’t be the same,” she said through her teeth with a sharp breath.
“Not only will I invest in the construction of the new factory, but my father’s pack, full of iron mines, will be willing to trade its precious minerals with you!”
She made her announcement, throwing out her hooks, and of course, for a merchant pack, the offer was very convenient.

Chapter 134
“But only if Lucio LookWood is chosen as Alpha and given control of the LookWood family!”
She looked at me, lifting one eyebrow, convinced she already had victory in her hand.

“However, I still have the ingredient for your main product. Or is iron better than Dream Powder?” I said, holding on to my card.
The truth was, things weren’t as under control as I wanted them to be.
“I already tested it, and yes, the ingredient Mr. Lucio brought works. Mixed with the Dream Powder we already have, it strengthens it,” one of the elders announced.
The look Lucio gave me as he stood beside Lady Stephanie was pure delight.
“Let’s wait a little. I haven’t seen it show the same effect as our product yet….”
Efrain said it, finding his voice.
I had told him to trust me, and in truth, what was inside that chest wasn’t powder from the centipede’s scale.
In the little storage booth behind the market stall, Blaze had scraped the hard rhinoceros hooves and mixed that poisonous powder with, at most, a little of the scale powder.
“I’m already feeling the effects. This enhancer is good….”
“I think you should wait a little longer,” I interrupted the elder, who was far too eager to hand Lucio the victory.
“We’re not waiting anymore! Understand that you’ve already lost!” Lucio roared at me, hiding behind Stephanie. “Isn’t that right. Elder Chief? Let’s end this once and for all….”
The Elder Chief lowered his head, then looked at that harpy, and when his eyes moved toward me… I knew he wasn’t going to choose me.
That helplessness began running through me again.
It couldn’t be. Damn it.
After everything I had planned, I only needed one more moment for the poison to take effect.
“Of course. Let’s go behind the table. Bring a chair for Lady Stephanie!” he requested.
