I acted on pure instinct, expecting to hear the crack of Karla’s neck being twisted at any second.

I didn’t even give Blaze time to act. His roar exploded behind me as my power burst out like a supernova.

I shaped it into two she-wolves with bodies made of red mist, and they lunged at the man.

Their furious snarls matched my own as I channeled my energy the way I’d learned, feeding more power into the attack.

The man howled and released Karla when the wolves leaped onto his back and slammed him to the ground.

“Aaahhh!” His scream shook the clearing as blood sprayed and its scent flooded the air.

I stepped forward, but Blaze moved in front of me, blocking my view. He didn’t attack, though. He simply stood there, staring down at the patch of grass where the man had fallen.

I could hear teeth and claws ripping through flesh. The man’s screams soon stopped.

It didn’t matter that Blaze was shielding my eyes from the carnage. I could still “see it.”

As if I were those wolves. As if those were my teeth and my claws.

It was sickening, yet powerful and liberating at the same time.

“Blaze, it’s okay….” I moved him aside and walked around him until I could see what remained of the slave.

I didn’t know why he’d completely lost his mind… but what if Lady Karla had abused him?

Damn it… what if she was the one to blame?

I raised my hand, red lines flashing between my fingers, and the wolves slowly approached me.

Their eyes looked like rubies, and blood mingled with the mist that formed their bodies.

They were enormous and powerful.

I slowly reached out and stroked one of them behind the ears. The other wound herself around my legs like a jealous pup.

Feeling the manifestation of my Estingia seal was incredible. I knew the only limit to how many wolves I could create was my own will.

And the strongest among them, their true Alpha, would be my inner wolf. My power amazed me more every day.

“Karla! Wake up, Karla!” Lady Mikaela’s scream dragged me back to the urgency of the moment.

I drew the magic back into my body and ran to where the brown-haired Estingia had collapsed while the blonde shook her.

“Wait, don’t shake her so hard.” I pulled Karla from her grasp and carefully lowered her onto the grass.

Blood seeped from several ugly wounds, but the bruising around her neck, covered in claw marks, looked the worst.

“We need to take her to the Sanatorium… and you need treatment too.” I looked into Lady Mikaela’s tear-filled eyes as she crouched beside me. “Blaze, help us.”

I called to my slave, who was already dragging the other slave away before tossing him at the base of a tree like fertilizer.

But as soon as Blaze approached, Mikaela sprang to her feet, panic all over her face.

“No! I’ll carry her. Don’t touch her!”

“My slave won’t hurt her.” I stood too, frowning.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, but she won’t feel comfortable. Help me, and we’ll carry her together… Please. Please….” She took my hands, pleading with me as if she already trusted me.

Blaze snorted, but I shot him a look, and he smoothed the annoyance from his face.

I ended up bearing most of Lady Karla’s weight as we carried her into the fortress because Lady Mikaela was also bleeding from a nasty wound in her abdomen.

With the brown-haired Estingia between us, one arm draped over each of our shoulders, we practically dragged her along.
