Chapter 194
Chapter 194
ÍSIDORA
These weren’t Estingia Tower lands anymore. They belonged to a powerful pack that would be hosting the competition.
The girls and I had trained our asses off these past few days, enduring the pressure in that room over and over again.
I don’t know what got into that greedy old woman, but she ended up giving us several top–quality Angus stones, which helped speed up our training even more.
On top of that, she suspended our work in the greenhouse, and I suspected she was getting some new rejuvenation treatment done.
Was she trying to rewind all the way back to infancy?
Anyway, that special training room really did give us more than it had promised, even though Mika and Karla passed out several times and I had to drag them out.
It was exhausting, but it was worth every second.
I felt like a supernova about to go off, with so much energy inside me waiting to be set loose, and I knew my wolf was one step away from connecting with me.
My carriage finally stopped, and I climbed down with Blaze’s help.
My gaze lifted to the imposing castle rising endlessly above us.
The gray stone gave it a cold look, not exactly luxurious, but the whole place had an oppressive, ancient feel.
I think I’d heard somewhere that it had once been the retreat residence of one of the old Lycan kings.
“Welcome to Winter Castle,” a woman’s voice greeted us from the top of the central staircase.
Around twenty Dark Estingias, along with our staff, moved toward the foot of the stairs.
Elessia came over right away too.
She had insisted on riding in the carriage with her squire friends, though honestly, I think she was giving me room to do obscene things with Blaze in mine.
Blaze… Blaze was another one who had been too quiet and distracted these days, but now, as always, he stood like an unshakable presence at my back.
I looked at Elessia too, then at Karla and Mika.
They were nervous, just like me, but I straightened my back and stepped into the castle when they guided us inside.
An enormous hall opened around us, and then they split us off toward the Dark Estingias‘ section.
Only, I noticed we weren’t all staying close together.
And of the New Moon Estingias, there were only the three of us… I think we were the only ones left from our group, and that made every hair on the back of my neck stand up.
We crossed the inner corridors bordering a huge training field. The Full Moon Estingias were led to the right, but we were stopped.

Chapter 194
“The New Moon Estingias must go this way,” a servant suddenly told us as she approached.
Her tense eyes met mine, and I recognized her immediately.

She was one of the senior maids who used to order me to do the worst jobs, kicking me and calling me fat while she laughed with the others.
She dodged my gaze in an unnatural way when my eyes stayed fixed on her face.
“Follow me, please, distinguished Estingias,” she muttered, almost in a whisper, as she guided us toward another wing.
“That bitch. Now she’s pretending she doesn’t know us…” Elessia said through her teeth, hatred in her eyes.
“Don’t give her what she wants. Let’s not look for trouble here.” I took her hand and leaned in to whisper to her.
We were in a place packed with watchful eyes and enemies.
If my suspicions were right, I would run into several enemies here much worse than this hateful woman.
My eyes dug coldly into the back of her neck, but the truth was, I wasn’t planning to take revenge on her. Not unless she plotted something against me.
“These are Lady Mikaela’s and Lady Karla’s rooms,” she announced when we reached a pretty courtyard garden.
The bedroom doors, one beside the next, wrapped around the huge square, which was full of benches and beautiful flowers planted in a dirt bed at the center.
“Why aren’t the three of us together?” Karla snapped, her tone turning harsh after hearing Elessia’s muttered complaint about how that woman had treated us.
“I’m sorry, Lady…”
“Karla. I’m Lady Karla.”
“Right, it’s just…” I could see her sweating, and her eyes slid subtly toward me. “I was ordered to put the most powerful New Moon Estingia of her generation in the largest room.”
I frowned at that explanation, and not exactly because I felt flattered.
Why did I feel like I was being singled out for something right from the start?
“Then that’s Dora. There’s no problem. But is her room far?” Mika asked, and the servant told her no, that my room was right on the floor above theirs.
Honestly, something smelled rotten to me, but I had no choice but to climb a narrow staircase with her to the second–floor landing.
Upstairs, there was also a terrace overlooking the inner garden below, with comfortable furniture and a small tea table.
I noticed there were only two rooms on this floor.
One had a black door. The other had a white one.
“F–follow me this way…” The woman was shaking all over, as if I were about to swallow her whole.
When she brought me to the black door and tried to open it, it turned out none of the keys worked in the lock.
“Oh Goddess, no. Don’t tell me that idiot grabbed the wrong key ring,” she mumbled, sweat running down the back of her
neck.

Chapter 194
“As always, blaming someone else for your own incompetence.” Elessia muttered loud enough for her to hear.
But unlike before, the woman didn’t dare hit us or yell at us.
“What’s going on?” My voice came out sharp, and she turned with her head lowered.
“La… Lady Isidora, it’s… well, it seems… it seems I grabbed the wrong set of keys,” she told me, staring at the floor.
The alarms kept ringing in my head.
“Are you doing this on purpose? Because if you are…”
I took one step forward, but in a second, she was on her knees, clutching my skirt.
“No, no, please, forgive me for the past. I was an idiot, a fool. Don’t punish me, please, I’m begging you!”
She started crying and screaming as if I had slapped her right there.
