Chapter 193
Chapter 193
NARRATOR
Legna let out an audible sigh.
She looked past him at her husbands, battered and broken, but the worry on their faces was still for her.
She knew they would fight to save her until the bitter end.
Vhaelor suddenly collapsed to the floor, shaking the entire greenhouse, and slowly shifted from a half-beast back into the man who still had control of himself.
Legna clenched her fists, blood dripping from her hands. Now her brow furrowed with deep concern.
She raised her head and watched that tide of cursed wolves retreat, those messengers of death and madness.
The Lycan King had survived this time. He lay naked and panting on the floor, his muscular body drenched in sweat and still marked by the heavy chains.
Time was running out. Legna knew that pill wouldn’t be able to bring him back for much longer. This time, it was Isidora who had saved him.
A horrible wave of dizziness made her stumble, but strong arms caught her almost at once.
“I’m fine, I’m fine. You need to go get your wounds treated. Peter’s badly hurt,” she said between ragged breaths, raising a hand to wipe away her sweat.
She immediately saw the wrinkled skin of her hand and the veins standing out beneath it, the signs of her true age.
She’d lost too much of her Estingia magic, and now she had to recover it all over again.
“Damn it…” she muttered. Then she opened her eyes and looked straight at the Lycan King.
“I’m sorry about this whole mess.” Vhaelor’s voice still sounded wolfish, and the veins in his eyes were still red. “Thank you, Estingia, but this can’t go on. It isn’t working anymore, just like it didn’t work for my father.”
“I’m the one who’s sorry, Your Majesty… I promised I would improve the formula, and I did… but it isn’t enough.
The heavy silence that followed felt like a death sentence.
Vhaelor looked at the state he’d left the entire greenhouse in, at the precious plants and the place that meant so much to the powerful woman helping him.
This was where his Isidora came to practice.
If he suffered another attack like this, he might not be able to come back from it
And it was obvious another one would come because the attacks were coming more often, each one more vicious than the
last.
His mind was fracturing bit by bit, and there was nothing he could do to stop it
At least he could leave this world knowing he would give all the treasures he kept for himself to Isidora and repay Legna for all the help she’d given him, as well as compensate her for all the damage he’d caused.
She had complete freedom to use his royal seal, which would later pass to Isidora.

In the end, it was the only thing he could leave them.

“Make sure Isidora is chosen to go to my palace, and send the missive to my regent… Speed things up, Legna… I don’t have much time left.”
Legna looked into that man’s desperate eyes.
He might be the King, the most powerful of his race, but right now, he was only a man desperate to live, desperate to fight something she knew he could never beat.
She’d seen that same desperation in the eyes of several lycans. Their struggle had only ever ended in death
Legna’s heart tore in two as she watched him leave.
There it was again, the decision she’d known was coming. But this time, she would choose to lie, even if it stained her conscience a little more.
Because last time, she’d been too honest. She’d told her friend the truth about her mate’s condition, and it had only led to her death.
Legna had no doubt Isidora would do the same. She’d sacrifice herself trying to save Blaze, thinking she could save him just like all the others had thought they could.
