Chapter 226
Chapter 226
ISIDORA
My wolf was in agony, desperately trying to reach Blaze’s wolf only to hit a wall.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the dagger glint.

“I could kill you myself, but what fun would that be…? I’d rather let your former slave do the honors.”
Helen stepped back, and Blaze stopped right in front of me.
He grabbed a fistful of my hair and yanked my head back.
He held the edge of his dagger against my exposed throat.
Tears of blood kept spilling from my red eyes. The pain was so deep I couldn’t even put a name to it.
I let out a bitter laugh.
“I curse the day the Goddess made you my mate. I should’ve let you go the first time you rejected me…”
I laughed again, but it came out hoarse and broken.
He just stared at me.
“Do it, you fucking nameless coward. Free yourself from this love you hate so much… DO IT!”
My roar shook the mist hanging over the ruined garden.
Time seemed to stop the second Blaze roared back and drew the dagger across my throat.
I felt the blade slice into my skin and death close in around me.
All I could do was look at him as the blade cut my scream short.
Red and gold exploded at once, along with something else… a stronger power that suddenly came alive and threw everything into chaos.
Then everything went dark, and all the pain was gone.
And the last thing I saw was the face I had loved more than anything in my life.
The face I would hate with everything in me from that moment on.
I thought I saw tears fall from those golden eyes, but I knew I was only fooling myself.
Blaze had tried to murder me.
“Aaah!” I woke up screaming and shot upright in my bed, back in my real room.

I was alive.
I was back at the Estingia Fortress.

My hands flew to my throat as I remembered the cold blade slicing into my skin, the terror of dying, and the pain of knowing he was the one who had done it.
My fingers brushed against a rough bandage.
Someone had treated the wound.
My whole body shook as I stared down at my lap in a panic.
“Easy, easy, Dora…” When I turned and saw Elessia beside me, I fell apart.
“Ele…” She wrapped her arms around me, and I started sobbing.
Being in her arms had always been the only thing in this world that could comfort me.
“It’s okay, my Dora. Everything’s going to be okay. We always make it through. I’m right here. I’ll always be right here beside you…”
I clung to her because she was the only person in my life who had ever been real with me.
“He betrayed me, Ele… He cut my th… throat…
The words came out between sobs that sounded like they belonged to a woman I didn’t even know.
My hoarse cries filled the room until I had nothing left.
Blaze had destroyed me from the inside out.
Lucio’s betrayal was nothing compared to the emptiness I felt now.
Somehow, our bond had been ripped apart. My wolf lay curled into a ball, weak and refusing to speak.
“Honestly, everything was already chaos when I woke up. The girls were with me, and we had orders to head straight back to the Estingia pack…”
“My mentor…” I tensed when more flashes of what had happened came back to me.
I needed to know what had happened to everyone…
To him.
“I don’t know the details. They didn’t even let us see you until after you’d been treated…”
Her gaze dropped to my throat.
“I thought… I thought I’d died…”
A chill ran down my spine again.
“I didn’t see the wound. You were already bandaged when I came in. Does it hurt much?”
I shook my head. Physical pain wasn’t what I was feeling.
“I need to know what happened to Legna. How we got out of that place. And that fucking bitch Helen…”
“You don’t have to worry about Helen anymore…”

Chapter 226
Someone spoke from somewhere else in the room.
Elessia and I jumped when we realized we hadn’t been alone.
Someone else had been there the whole time, and neither of us had noticed.
