VHAELOR, THE LYCAN KING
We kept making the same mistake again and again.
Staying away from her was worse than dying.

We’d told ourselves it would be just one last time, and in a matter of seconds, we ruined everything we’d planned.
Hidden in the darkness, we suppressed our aura and our presence, but even then, she felt us.
The second Soul saw her throw herself backward, gambling with her precious life that way, staying hidden became impossible.
“NO!”
Soul roared and threw himself into the abyss.
His claws scraped against the hard rock, sending sparks flying as he reached out with his other arm and caught her.
Her waist felt so small between his enormous fingers, her body so soft against his hard muscles, and the delicious scent rising from her skin was driving my lycan insane.
The sound of her heartbeat was the most beautiful thing I’d ever heard.
That, and hearing her call me her King… She knew. Damn it, she’d figured it all out.
Soul lowered his head and saw the tears spilling from her eyes.
Her pain tore through us, ripping the hole in our chest even wider.
Her small hand rose to caress his black nose, while my wolf enjoyed feeling her touch for the first time.
There was nothing else like it.
He narrowed his eyes and let her caress him, holding tightly to Isidora and that magical moment.
“You’re so cruel to me, little wolf… Varka doesn’t want to forgive you for running away from her… Why didn’t you tell me? Why have you punished us like this… why?”
“Because we love you more than anything in this world, and as long as you’re alive, I don’t care if you hate us.”
Soul couldn’t hold the words back any longer.
He lowered his muzzle and buried it in Isidora’s hair, tilting her head back until that pale white neck was exposed, her veins pulsing with blood and life.

Our mate wrapped her legs around him and buried them in his fur, her small fists tightening to hold on.
Goddess… I would’ve given my soul to stay like that with her forever…
“But we don’t hate you, stupid wolf,” my beautiful Varka’s voice echoed inside our mind.
“We don’t hate you even after you dared to pretend you’d murdered us… but you’d better prepare yourself for my punishment.”
A faint smile appeared on Soul’s muzzle.
He was dying to be punished, to beg for forgiveness on his knees, if it meant there was still a chance for a future with them.
“I…”
The rest of the words died in his throat.
His smile vanished when he opened his eyes and looked down into the abyss beneath us.
Two enormous red eyes stared up at him from the face of a gigantic dark wolf. It opened its jaws launched itself toward us.
“NO! NOT MY MATE!”
Soul roared, and every muscle in his body tensed.
“Soul!”
“Hold on to me, Isidora! Don’t let go!” With her safe in his arms, we started climbing.
Our claws sank into the mountainside as if the rock were nothing but butter.
and
We leaped several yards at a time to reach the top faster, already hearing the roars below us and feeling death closing in.
I wouldn’t let them have my mate. They wouldn’t take her away from me.
I had to get her somewhere safe, so Soul ran, holding her tight against his chest as he raced through the wild forest beneath the moonlight.
We kept running, roaring at the dark wolves closing in from every direction.
They came at me like scavengers, their red eyes fixed on us as they lunged and tried to sink their teeth into my legs.
They wanted to take her from me.
They were starving for love, still longing for the mates they’d lost, and now they wanted mine.
