Chapter 89

¡SIDORA

“Quick, cover it well. The boss is coming…”

I heard voices close by, and through the narrow slit of my blurry eyes, I saw two men dragging a huge rock over a small opening in the wall.

It happened fast, but I could’ve sworn there was a chest hidden inside that little hollow.

Still, when they turned to look at me, I pretended I had just woken up.

“Where did you bring me? What do you want from me?” I asked, my voice rough as I looked at their vicious faces and then around the place.

I was inside a cave, sitting on the ground with a horrible pain pounding at the back of my head.

“You’re in our humble cave,” a voice suddenly echoed from the entrance.

Through the weak torchlight, I saw the man’s eyes, and something about him felt unsettlingly familiar.

“Have we met before?” I asked him straight out. He paused for a second, then tried to hide it.

“Are you stupid? Don’t you remember how that little husband of yours humiliated us in front of that food stand?” He growled as he came toward me, threatening, and pulled a strange dagger from the leather belt at his waist.

But instead of scaring me, the carving on the handle caught my attention. A white wolf’s head carved in silver.

Where had I seen that seal before?

“No, I don’t mean before… Had we met outside the pack?” I asked that stupid question even though I knew this was a dream.

Still, I would’ve sworn something changed in his face. He looked nervous.

“Stop talking nonsense! Hold this fat bitch still. I’m going to cut her apart right here!” he snarled.

In one second, those two hulking wolf males had me by the arms, and that was when I understood I really was in a dangerous situation.

Was this finally my time to die? Had that creature gotten tired of absorbing “my happiness” and left me here for the cruelest beast?

“I want to watch that brute weep tears of blood when he sees you ripped to pieces,” he said, his eyes shining with malice as he moved the sharp blade in front of my face.

But right then, something clicked in my memory. That crooked, rotten expression. That eye color. The person he reminded me of.

I had only seen him once, in a picture Lucio had proudly shown off, from when his merchant father had gone to the capital of the Lycan King.

“You’re Lucio’s father!” I shouted, jerking back hard as the knife came down toward my face.

The attack stopped. Even those two lackeys loosened their grip on me a little.

The look on the man’s face turned complicated. He only stared at me, and then I remembered something else.

Chapter 89

“If you’re here playing this role, it can only mean one of two things… either I made you up from that picture I saw or you died in the Blue Forest, killed by the creature keeping me trapped here.”

The moment that guess left my mouth, it felt even more certain. I didn’t even remember him well enough to give him such an important role.

Not like Blaze. Not even like the daughter I had created to feed my fantasy.

He had to be dead, just like all his men, just like everyone in that pack. They had to be people who had died one way or another in this dangerous Blue Forest.

A twisted smile pulled at his mouth.

“I suppose there’s only one way to test your theory,” he said, and brought the knife down too fast for me to dodge.

“Aahh!” I screamed, unable to break free, truly believing my end had come.

But the second the blade touched my skin, it turned to dust. So did the people threatening me.

Then the torches went out, and the cave itself seemed to start slipping back into reality.

I opened my eyes, still shaking. No one was holding me anymore, and I knew I had to escape because I could feel that if I stayed there, I might really die.

I didn’t know when those creatures would show up!
