Chapter 91
NARRATOR

55 960’s
Mr. Centipede had only tried to scare her a little at the end to make it more believable, but for taking initiative like a good employee, all he got was another brutal beating!
What a miserable life… At least the rhino had let him suck out happiness. Now the only thing he got to eat was abuse.
Isidora kept watching the shadow moving ahead of them, expecting it to slip into some hole in the ground at any second.
Still, they were moving deeper and deeper into the tangled, dangerous territory of the blue forest, and nothing had happened.
She could barely see anything. Her wolf vision wasn’t very good, and she was still a little confused about what was real.
“Aah!” She suddenly tripped over a root and almost fell flat on her face, but a rough, steady hand caught her by the arm.
“Careful, my lady. Stay close.” With that same commanding tone as always, Blaze took her hand and closed his around it.
With his other hand, he kept dragging the massive hind leg of that rhino. The smell was sharp, still dangerous enough to scare off other predators.
Or at least that was what Isidora believed as she squeezed Blaze’s hand with a sigh, having no idea that the greatest predator of all was standing right beside her… and it definitely wasn’t that dead pig.
Soon, they reached the slope of a small mountain, and Isidora recognized the cave from her dream.
“It’s here!” She pulled away from Blaze in excitement and ran inside.
Blaze didn’t stop her. He had already stretched out his senses, and he didn’t feel any danger.
He dropped the rhino leg in the clearing outside the cave, thinking he would have to butcher it soon or the blood would attract small, irritating problems.
As he passed the bug, he gave him a vicious look.
“Try to scare her again like you did before, and consider yourself dead. I’m still deciding what to do with you, so don’t move from here, or you know I’ll search under every stone until I find you.” He threatened him straight through his teeth before stepping into the small cave.
The centipede curled into a pathetic, trembling ball. Well, at least he was better off than his last teammate.
And it seemed he had done the right thing by showing the female that cave, the one pulled from the memories of those wolf merchants he and the rhino had ambushed and murdered.
Inside the dark cave, Isidora realized she couldn’t see an inch in front of her face.
She heard Blaze behind her and turned around, too excited to hold back as she grabbed his arm.
“I need you to help me, my love…” The words “my love” slipped out so naturally that they both froze on the spot.
The awkwardness hit at once, at least for Isidora, while Blaze hid his melancholy expression in the dark.
“I mean… sorry, I… I think I’m still half confused…”
“Are you looking for something, my lady? I have good eyesight.” Blaze cut off her uncomfortable stammering. He knew exactly why she had gotten confused. He wanted to crawl back into that illusion himself and never come out.
