The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 516

Petty's gaze dropped from Franco's face back to her phone screen.

The red light in the upper right corner of the phone was blinking. It was the exact same color as the rims of her eyes.

She stared at the video that had automatically paused due to the low battery warning, freezing right on the frame of Abacus tilting his head and smiling brightly at the camera.

She missed her baby so much.

Watching her like this, Franco's gaze turned somber. His grip on his own phone tightened as he fought the urge to have someone fetch a power bank to charge her device.

She hadn't rested properly all day; it was time for her to go to sleep.

Petty remained silent for a few seconds before asking in a low voice, "Can I watch it when I wake up?"

She wasn't stupid. She knew Franco had been perfectly aware the battery was low to begin with. He had deliberately played the video for her just so that when the phone inevitably died, he could use it as an excuse to send her to bed.

He knew she was desperate for more videos of Abacus.

He just wanted her to get some proper rest.

"Sleep a full eight hours, and I'll let you watch it," Franco bargained.

The phone screen went completely dark. Petty's eyelashes fluttered as she murmured, "Okay."

Jay didn't approach them. He stayed hidden in the shadows until Franco led Petty toward his direction, waiting silently until they stepped into the elevator and the doors slid shut. Only then did he emerge from the corner.

It was late in the night, and the air carried a chilly, damp heaviness.

With an expressionless, calm face, he spoke into the seemingly empty space around him.

"First-half night shift, go get some rest."

A few shadows shifted slightly in the dark corners, and then the space fell completely still, as if a gentle breeze had just swept through. Their movements were as fast as lightning.

He walked into the lobby toward the elevators. Just then, the doors to the elevator next to the one Franco and Petty had taken slid open.
