After the court's ruling, Franco worked from home for a week. Following that, aside from weekends and holidays, he clocked in and out of the office perfectly on time every day.
Aside from some restrictions on his executive power, everyone at The White Group felt that his sentencing hadn't really changed anything. He was the same as always.
If one had to pinpoint a difference, it was his office.
In the past, anyone who came in to report felt the room was far too sterile.
The monochromatic color scheme aside, the decor was aggressively minimalist. With the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, the entire space felt both cavernous and suffocatingly intimidating.
Right now, Director Shaw from the planning department stood before the desk, confessing to a mistake. Having nervously answered Franco's sharp questions, he braced himself for a brutal dressing-down.
Franco was famously meticulous and notoriously unforgiving of incompetence in the industry.
But Franco merely flipped through the file and said indifferently, "Don't let it happen again."
Director Shaw blinked, stunned.
Suddenly, from the light blue playpen tucked to the right of the desk, came the clattering sound of toy blocks being banged together.
The director glanced out of the corner of his eye. A chubby, adorable toddler tossed aside the blocks he'd found somewhere, gripped the edge of the playpen, and stared up at him with huge, round eyes.
Was this the boss's little boy?
He was ridiculously cute!
"Hehe!" The baby grinned at him, flashing four front teeth.
Caught off guard by the giggle, Director Shaw couldn't help but smile back. But a second later, a predatory gaze zeroed in on him. Snapping back to reality, he immediately ducked his head in panic.
"If there's nothing else, you can leave," Franco said, stepping out from behind his desk.
He walked over to the playpen, expertly removing Manley's damp bib and swapping it for a dry one.
