The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 415

Chapter 415

“I knew about her before she ever came up this mountain,” she whispered. “Before Terence did, even. I have ears in places he doesn’t think to look. I tried to deal with it quietly. More than once. It should have been dealt with.” She turned the ring on her finger. “But the little healer has a way of walking away from situations she shouldn’t be able to walk away from. She’s survived all of the attempts that have been made on her life.”

I froze, blinking.

I knew Stephanie hated my sister. That much was obvious just looking at her. But I didn’t know she’d already been aware of Ellie. I’d never told her about her before. And I never expected her tobe the one to make assassination attempts on Ellie’s life.

This news made Stephanie a lot more useful to me.

I thought about what Ellie might say to Terence. The things she’d tell him, things that would get me kicked out of the pack.

Then, I thought about Dominic-who’d be Alpha King within the year if he won the election. An Alpha without a Luna. Still pining after Ellie, who would always ensure she was just within his reach, just in case she decided she wanted him back after all.

But if there was a way to get rid of her, once and for all…

“I want in,” I said.

Stephanie’s brows lifted. “You do?”

“You want her gone. So do I.” I folded my arms. “She knows things about me I’d rather keep buried. As long as she’s around, she has a knife at my back, and I’m tired of looking over my shoulder.” I paused, licking my lips. And there’s something else I want that I can’t have while she’s still in the picture.”

“Which is?” She tilted her head.

“Dominic.”

I watched her expression change as the pieces fell into place. Stephanie was a lot of things, but stupid wasn’t one of them.

“He’s one of the strongest Alpha King candidates at the moment,” she said, lips curving. “You aim high, girl.”

“I aim where it’s worth aiming.”

The Luna was quiet for a long moment, and I could practically hear the gears turning in her head.

“The current Alpha King is family to me,” she said. “Third cousin.”

“I’m aware,” I said. I’d come with my “parents” on the most recent trip to see him. I’d listened in on their meetings when they didn’t know I was there.

“A word in the right ear does remarkable things, you know,” she said, checking her nails. “I could speak to my cousin, have him arrange something that ensures you and your candidate wind up together in the end. Is that what you want?” She glanced at me.

“More than anything,” I admitted with a wry smile.
