Chapter 433

The courier told me it could be weeks before Dominic read it.

Deep down, I was just happy he would read it at all.

Vivian’s POV

The trader that Stephanie had hooked me up with came to the side entrance of the inn.the way I’d arranged, hood up, face shadowed beneath it. He set a small wrapped package on the table between us without a word. I didn’t reach for it yet.

“Both?” I asked.

“Both.” He pulled a folded-up piece of paper from the inside pocket of his coat. “The first one’s in the blue glass. Night Root extract. Rarer than it used to be and twice the price, but undetectable after the fact.” He tapped the paper. “Dosing is on there. Read it properly. Too little and it doesn’t finish the job. Too much and it’ll create much more of a mess than you want it to.”

I knew that already, of course. I wanted to ask if he thought I was fucking stupid, but bit my tongue and asked instead, “And the second?”

“Red glass. Simpler. Mix it into a drink, thirty minutes or less. He won’t remember much of it, but I suppose that’s what you want, isn’t it?”

I nodded, resisting the urge to smile.

Two vials. One that would help me end Ellie’s fairytale without being caught; an incredibly rare plant extract, recommended by Stephanie herself. A few drops was enough to kill even the strongest wolves, which meant it would do wonders on someone like Ellie. She’d die in her sleep and no one would ever be able to figure out the

cause.

As for the second vial… That was my idea. A simple aphrodisiac; just enough to get Dominic pliant and aroused enough to do something crazy.

Something as crazy as marking me.

I’d spent three weeks being Lady Everheart-soft-spoken, veiled, available without seeming desperate. Stephanie had arranged the introduction through Monroe the way she’d promised, and Monroe had done the rest.

Dominic had turned it down, which I’d expected. He was nothing if not predictably stubborn when it came to Ellie.

But he didn’t have to choose me willingly. He just had to be marked.

I could deal with the aftermath later. But I was certain, anyway, that once I had that one night with him, once I got those marks in both of us, he’d forget all about her anyway.
