“Alpha Blackthorne,” I greeted him formally. “Welcome to Crescent Moon.”

“Alpha Sera.” His voice was gravelly, hard. “Thank you for receiving me. I know my visit is unexpected.”

“Luna told me you were coming. My daughter is prophetic, among other gifts.”

His eyes fixed on Luna with an intensity that made my wolf bristle. “So the rumors are true. The child speaks and sees the future.”

“Among other abilities, yes.” I adjusted Luna slightly. “She’s quite extraordinary.”

“She’s an abomination.”

The room went silent. Several warriors tensed, hands moving toward weapons.

“Careful, Alpha Blackthorne.” My voice was cold. “You’re speaking about my daughter.”

“I’m speaking about a creature that shouldn’t exist. Seventh-generation daughter and hybrid bloodlines combined. The power she represents is a threat to natural order.” He took a step forward. “That child could destroy the pack hierarchy with a thought. Could force bonds, break them, manipulate every supernatural being in her vicinity.”

“Could, but won’t. Because she’s being raised with values and control.”

“You can’t know that. She’s six weeks old and already displaying abilities most daughters don’t develop for years.” His expression was almost pitying. “Alpha Sera, I understand you love your child. But you must see the danger. That infant has more power than the entire Council combined.”

“And she’ll use it wisely, because she’ll be taught wisely.”

“By you? A Luna who overthrew Council authority, destroyed established order, and encouraged rebellion across North America?” Blackthorne shook his head. “Your judgment is compromised by maternal instinct. You can’t see what everyone else sees-that child is a weapon waiting to detonate.”

“Is that why you came here? To insult my daughter and my leadership?”

“I came to offer you a choice.” He pulled out a document. “Join my coalition. Accept that some traditions exist for good reasons. Help me restore proper pack hierarchy across our territories.”

“In exchange for?”

“Protection for your daughter. I’ll convince the other traditionalists that she’s not a threat, that you’re keeping her control. Crescent Moon maintains its reforms in isolation while other packs return to proper structure. Everyone wins.”

“Except the omegas in those other packs. Except that the daughters were forced to hide their gifts. Except every wolf who wants more than the role they were born into.” I stood, still holding Luna. “I decline your offer, Alpha Blackthorne.”

“Then you choose war.”

“You chose war when you decided reform was a threat instead of an opportunity.” I moved closer, letting him feel my power. “I didn’t start that. I just stopped accepting oppression as normal. If that’s worth fighting over, the problem isn’t me.”

“Your pride will destroy you.”

“My courage will free us.” I looked at his escort, seeing doubt on some faces. “Some of your wolves understand that. They’ve seen or heard about reformed packs. They wonder why they

can’t have the same.”

“Lies and manipulation.”

“Truth and possibility.” Luna stirred in my arms, and I felt her power beginning to build. She was getting upset, feeding off my tension. “I think this conversation is over. You’ve delivered your ultimatum. Now leave my territory.”

“One more thing.” Blackthorne’s eyes locked on Luna. “That child. When she’s older, when her power manifests fully, she’ll be hunted. Not just by me, but by everyone who fears what she represents. You can’t protect her forever.”

“Watch me.”

“I’ve watched you, Alpha Sera. I’ve watched you conquer death and war and conspiracy. You’re formidable.” His voice dropped. “But you’re not invincible. Eventually, you’ll lose. And when you do, that child will be vulnerable.”

The threat was clear. He wasn’t just planning to attack Crescent Moon. He was planning to target Luna specifically.

“If you or anyone in your coalition touches my daughter, there won’t be enough of you left to bury.” Power radiating from me now, alpha command backed by my daughter’s gifts and absolute maternal fury. “I’ve died once. I’ll die again before I let anyone harm her. And I’ll take everyone who tries down with me.”

For the first time, Blackthorne looked uncertain. “You’d start a war over pride?”

“I’d end a war over my daughter.” I felt Luna’s power intertwining with mine, mother and child

connected. “Now get out. And tell your coalition that if they want war, we’re ready. But they’d better be prepared for what happens when you threaten a mother’s child.”

Blackthorne left without another word, his escort hurrying after him.

The moment they were gone, I sagged, adrenaline fading. Adrian caught me, taking Luna gently.

“That was either the bravest or stupidest thing you’ve ever done,” he said.

“Both. Definitely both.” I looked at Luna, who was now calm in her father’s arms. “He’s going to attack. Soon.”

“Yes.” Marcus moved to the windows, watching Blackthorne’s convoy disappear. “But we bought time. He’ll regroup, gather his full coalition, and plan his approach. We have maybe

two weeks.”

“Then we use those two weeks.” I straightened, forcing strength back into my voice. “Catherine, Diana, I need you to reach out to every Alpha who might oppose Blackthorne. Even traditionally-minded ones who just don’t want war.”

“On it,” Catherine said.

“Adrian, financial warfare. Find out who’s funding Blackthorne’s coalition, cut off their

resources.”

“Already working on it.”

“Katherine, Elena, accelerate training for our students and warriors. Everything we know about fighting other supernatural beings we will teach in the next two weeks.”

“Marcus, fortifications. I want this territory to be a fortress. Blackthorne wants to attack? Let him try to break through our defenses.”

Orders given, strategies formed. We were preparing for war again.

Luna reached for me from Adrian’s arms. “Mama.”

I took her back, holding her close. “Yes, baby?”

“Win.” She said with such certainty, such absolute faith in me.

“Yes, Luna. We’ll win.” I looked at my assembled leaders, my allies, my family. “Because we have something Blackthorne’s coalition doesn’t.”

“What’s that?” Marcus asked.

“We’re fighting for freedom. They’re fighting to maintain chains. And throughout history, the
