The Lycan Primee’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance)
Chapter 131
“Better let me go, Kai?” I snap, struggling harder.
“No,” he says, his voice dropping into a low growl. “I’m not letting you go any fucking-where.”
I stop struggling and look over my shoulder at him. The gende look is gone. It’s been replaced by that predatory, dark intensity I’m used to.
“See?” I shake my head, my voice rising. “This is exactly what I’m talking about! You weren’t apologizing because you truly felt sorry. You just wanted to say the words so I’d stop being mad. Your apology doesn’t mean shit if you’re just going to turn around and do something worse five minutes later.”
I stop trying to move and just stare at him. “You don’t see me as a person, Kai. You see me as a possession. Something you own and get to control.”
Kai stares at me with a fury that, on any other day, would have made me drop my gaze in fear. But today, I stare back defiantly. I don’t care if he decides to punish me. I don’t care if he locks me in the dark. I’m tired of these games.
He closes his eyes and lets out a long, frustrated groan. He releases my waist and steps back, turning away from me to face-palm. He looks like he’s trying to stop himself from screaming.
Finally, he turns back. “I wouldn’t have to act this way if you weren’t flirting with my cousin right in the middle of the hallway!”
“Flirting?” I ask, incredulous. “Roman was being kind! And besides, you already know the garden was a setup. Do you still blame me for falling for a trap
your own mate’ set?”
Kai steps closer again, his hands coming up to grip my upper arms. He doesn’t hurt me, but his grip is firm.
“I don’t give a damn about the trap,” he says, his eyes searching mine. “I just…cannot stand you talking to him like that. Or any other male. I don’t want them near you. I don’t want them touching you or even looking at you.”
My chest tightens at his words. It’s not just anger in his voice, it’s possessiveness too. Is he really this jealous?
The realization sends a shiver through me. I can’t let myself get caught up in this. Falling for a man like Kai is a death sentence for me and my heart.
Are you sure you haven’t already?”
I don’t even bother to respond to Wyndra. I ignore her ridiculous question.
“You know, I think you should channel all this possessive lover energy to your actual mate, Kai,” I say, trying to sound colder than I feel.
Kai looks at me silently for a long time. His hands slide down my arms to my wrists.
“I ended things with Rina,” he says. “Permanently.”
1 blink. “What? Why?”
“Because we don’t have a bond,” Kai says. He sounds relieved to finally say it out loud. “We never did. We just pretended because it was expected. Because it was easy for the politics of the kingdom.”
He looks at me intensely, his thumb brushing over the pulse point in my wrist. “Unlike the powerful bond i have with

zett betare he can finish his words. I quickly slap my hand over his lips, stopping him.
“Don’t.” I whisper, my eyes wide. “You can’t say that. Please. Don’t complicate things more than they already are.”
Kai doesn’t move. He just stares at me over the top of my hand. Then, his tongue slowly shoots out and licks the palm of my hand and my fingers.
A jolt of pure electricity shoots through my arm and straight down to my core. Heat pools between my legs instantly, making my knees weak. I quickly pull my hand away, my face flaming. I step back, clearing my throat and trying to find my self control, Snap out of it!
“Sooo,” I say, my voice cracking as I try to change the topic. “I passed my test, by the way. I’m an official member of the academy now.”
Kai watches me, a small smile playing on his lips. “Congratulations.”
“Thank you.”
He takes a step toward me, closing the gap I just created. “But how exactly did you pass the first part of that test, Lyra? The part that requires a shift? Since you’re so ‘wolfless ?”
I feel the blood drain from my face as I become nervous. When Roman asked me earlier, it was easy to lie and laugh it off. But with Kai, it’s different. He’s too observant. He’s too close. The way he’s looking at me makes it feel like he already knows I’m lying.
I clear my throat and look at the floor. “Well, it… it was hard. I just used my human instincts. I climbed really fast. I was lucky.”
Kai let’s out a low, dark chuckle. “Is that so?”
I swallow hard. “Yes. It’s true.”
