The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 132

Chapter 132

I struggle against Kai’s hold, kicking my legs and twisting my waist, even though I know it’s practically pointless. He is an unmovable wall of muscle and dominance. Every time I try to move away, it feels like I’m trying to move a mountain.

“Let me go!” I snap, my voice echoing in the hallway.

Kai doesn’t listen. Instead, he tightens his grip, pinning both of my hands behind my back with a single hand. He pulls me flush against him, making it impossible for me to even turn around and glare at him. I’m trapped, chest rising and falling in rapid, shallow breaths.

“You’re going nowhere,” he whispers into my ear. The heat of his breath makes me shiver involuntarily. “Not until you confess everything to me, Lyra.

My whole body trembles, I try to keep my voice steady, but it comes out as a shaky breath. “I..I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, Kai.”

“Don’t lie to me,” he growls, his voice dropping into a dangerous, low register. “You know exactly what the fuck I’m talking about. I saw the screen. I saw you.”

‘Lyra,’ Wyndra’s voice speaks up in my mind. She sounds surprisingly calm. ‘I think you should just tell him the truth.’

I pause, my mind racing. ‘What?’ I scream at her internally. ‘What do you mean tell him the truth? You’re the one who said we can’t trust anyone! Why are you suddenly handing our life over to him?’

‘Maybe because he’s our mate? Wyndra replies simply.

Stop saying that! I don’t want to hear it. I’m not his mate, and I’m not telling him anything. I’d rather sleep in the basement for a year than tell him what I

Wyndra just chuckles, a dark, knowing sound. ‘Have it your way, little fox. But you can’t hide from him forever.”

I clear my throat, trying to regain my composure. I look straight ahead, refusing to acknowledge the heat of his body behind mine. “I have nothing to confess, Prince Kai. You’re seeing things.”

I don’t even finish the sentence before I feel his anger increase. It’s like a physical wave hitting me. Suddenly, his hand moves from my wrists to my throat.

He doesn’t crush it, but he squeezes tight enough that the air is cut off.

I wheeze, clawing at his arm. “What… are… you doing?”

“I’m giving you ten seconds,” Kai says. His eyes are glowing a predatory green as he leans over my shoulder. “Tell me now you passed that first test. Tell me

how you survived that fall.”

He turns me around in his grip so I’m forced to face him. He looks like he’s vibrating with the effort of holding himself back. His jaw is set, and his gaze is

burning into mine. I swallow hard, the fear finally starting to overtake my anger.

“I…I honestly don’t know,” I stammer, my voice thin. “Something strange just… took over me. I felt this heat, and then everything went dark.”

Kai turns me around and forces me back until my spine hits the wall. “Do you know what you are, Lyra?”

I look up at him, my bottom lip trembling. “I’m not sure. But I know I’m not a wolf.”

“You’re a fox,” Kai says. He says the word like it’s a secret. “A silver fox. Do you have any idea how rare that is? Your kind is supposed to be extinct. Hunted

to the last centuries ago.”

1 stare at him if shock. How does he know all of this? Was he really watching me during my test? “How does any of this concern you?” I ask, trying to sound defiant despite how much he’s affecting me.

Kai doesn’t back off. He leans in until his face is inches from mine. He is so tall, so broad-shouldered, that he completely blocks the light in the hallway. All I can smell is him, cedar, rain, and that intoxicating scent that makes my head swim. It’s becoming hard to breathe, and it’s not because of his hand on my neck anymore.

“I’m going to warn you just once, Lyra.” Kai says, his voice a low, terrifying promise. “No one must know what you are. Not your friends, not Roman, not Kara, and especially not my father. Do you understand?”
