The Lycan Primee’s Welfless Slave (Academy Romance)

Chapter 136

Kai

“How could you treat our daughter in such a degrading manner? Have you forgotten she’s a princess and your chosen mate?!”

Rina’s father, King Giuseppe stares at me with a face tight with anger. He’s breathing hard, and his chest is puffed out as if he’s trying to intimidate me. I look at him for a second, and then I find myself unable to hold back my laughter. It starts as a chuckle but quickly turns into a full-on laughter that echoes in the corridor.

Giuseppe’s expression shifts from anger to confusion. “What is so funny, Prince Kai?”

“I’m sorry,” I say, wiping a fake tear from my eye. “It’s just… your face. Watching it turn that shade of red is actually hilarious. You look like you’re about to pop a rein over a lie we’ve all been telling each other for years.”

His face turns even redder, which only makes me laugh more. Fuck, I needed this. After the stress of the Academy and the weight of the secrets I’m carrying for Lyra, seeing a King lose his composure over something so petty is the highlight of my night.

Rina’s mother, Queen Polina Zora, steps forward and takes my hand. Her touch is soft, and her eyes are filled with a pleading, desperate look.

“Kai, honey please,” she says in a gentle voice. “Tell me what happened. Did you and Rina have a quarrel? A disagreement? I know our daughter can be very troublesome and difficult at times, but as long as there is love between you two, anything can be fixed. Lovers fight, it’s natural-”

“There is no love between us, Polina. I’m pretty sure you both know this too, deep down.”

I cut her off mid-sentence. The silence that follows is thick. Polina freezes, her hand still resting on mine. She looks like I’ve just slapped her. I pull my hand away gently but firmly.

I look between the two of them, making sure they see the lack of doubt in my eyes. “Rina and I are not mates. We aren’t fated, and we aren’t even chosen mates. Everything about this union was orchestrated by the two of you and/my father. It was a business deal, nothing more. But now? I’ve decided that I want no part in it. It’s over.”

Polina looks pained. Her eyes shine with unshed tears, and she looks like her entire world is crumbling. I almost feel bad for disappointing her because she’s always been nice unlike her mate, Giuseppe, but I’d rather be brutally honest with them than keep living a lie that’s choking me.

Giuseppe, however, isn’t looking for honesty. He looks furious. He takes a step toward ine, his voice dropping into a low, threatening hiss

“You listen to me, boy,” he says. “If you dare leave our daughter mateless and stranded after all the promises made, the alliance with King Geo will be destroyed. It won’t just be a political rift. It will be all-out war between our kingdoms. Is that what you want? To see innocents bleed because you’re being impulsive?”

I don’t even give him a second to breathe. I step into his space, letting my Lycan fury rise just beneath the surface. I let my eyes flash red with fury.

“You’d better the fuck up,” 1 growl.

Giuseppe instinctively flinches. Despite being a King and a respected royal, he’s a lower tier Lycan compared to me and he knows it too. He shifts back a step, his eyes widening in fear. It’s a wise decision. If he had pushed me one second longer, I would have put him through the wall.

“Let’s be real for a moment, Giuseppe,” I say. “If anyone is in desperate need of an alliance, it’s you. Aren’t your borders on the verge of being wiped out by rogues? Don’t you need my father’s armies just to keep your crown on your head?”

Chapter 136

The two of them are speechless, their faces going pale. Oh they thought I didn’t know? These fucking clowns. All they care about is stuffing their faces with guld and fired. That’s the reason why they’re now vulnerable and need an alliance like their lives depend on it. Because yeah, it literally does.

Toffer them a cold smile and hold diseppe’s shoulders tight. I squeeze just hard enough to let him feel the strength in my fingers.

“I believe this conversation is over, see you at the bouquet.” I say and without waiting for a response or retort, I turn around and walk away, I don’t care
