The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 142

Chapter 142

Finally, two guards step forward and peel Rina off me at the King’s command. She’s still snarling, her mouth foaming with rage.

I’m left trembling on the floor, blood dripping from the scratches Rina left on me. Tears stream down my face as I look up at King Geo.

“Your Highness, please,’ I sob. “I didn’t do anything. I was trying to help him. He saved me.”

“Save your lies for the dungeon, girl,” the King says in a hard voice. He doesn’t even look at me. He turns to the guards. “Take my son to the healing room immediately! Get the royal doctors!”

The guards immediately lift Kai’s limp body and rush him out of the hall. I watch them go, my heart breaking. He needs me. I’m the only one who can stop

that poison, but they’re taking him away.

The King turns his gaze to me. It is filled with pure, unadulterated hatred. “Guards! Take this creature to the lowest dungeons. She will be punished severely

until she confesses who she is working for. I want to know who ordered this attack.”

“No!” I cry as the guards grab my arms, dragging me to my knees. “I didn’t do it! Please!”

Roman suddenly steps in front of me, blocking the guards’ path. “Wait! king Geo, I know Lyra Diamond. She wouldn’t have the guts to attack the prince like

this. Please hear her out.”

The King doesn’t even argue. He just grabs Roman by the neck, and shoves him roughly aside. Roman hits the wall with a loud noise. His parents cry out and rush to his side, but the King ignores them.

He stands over me and stares at me as if I’m a piece of dirt on his shoes. “I knew my son’s decision to keep you alive was a mistake,” he hisses. “I should have executed you the moment you were caught stealing. But now, you won’t escape my wrath. I will make sure you beg for death before I am finished with

you.”

“Take her away!” he roars.

The guards start dragging me roughly toward the doors. I try to fight help him! Let me help Kai!”

“Y-Your Highness,” the doctor stammers, his voice trembling. “The Prince… he isn’t breathing. We’ve tried every tonic, every spell, every revival technique we know. Nothing is working. The demon fire has reached his heart. It’s breaking into pieces. He’s… he’s fading.”

The Queen lets out a loud wail that echoes through the hall.

“Let me heal him!” I scream, trying to free myself from the guards. “I can do it! I know I can! Just let me try, and you can do whatever you want to ne afterward! Please!”

The King sneers at me. “You? You are the reason he is dying. I will not let you touch him again.”

“Geo, please stop!”

The Queen stands up, her eyes red and fierce. She looks at the King with a power that I’ve never seen before.

“Dursun is dying!” she cries: “If there is even a slim chance that she can do something, we have to take it! Do you want to bury your heir today?”

The King glares at his queen. “I will decide what will happen to our son. And I decide that that girl goes nowhere near him!”

*I am the Lycan Queen!” she yells, her voice is powerful and commanding. And I am giving an order! Goards, unhand her!”

The guards look at the King, then at the Queen. Slowly, they release my arms. The Queen turns to me, her gaze desperate.

“Follow me,” she says.

I don’t wait for another word as I scramble to my feet and follow the Queen. She leads me down a different hall, away from the chaos of the banquet. My

heart is pounding in my ears. I have to save him.

We reach the healing room. It’s a large hospital room that has a touch of old times. The room is filled with the smell of herbs and blood. Prince Kai is lying on a bed in a corner. His shirt has been cut away, revealing the blue veins that are now covering his entire chest. He looks like a statue right now. Pale, cold,

and still.

The doctors move out of the way as I approach. I sit on the edge of the bed, my hand trembling as I reach out to touch his cold skin. Tears escape my eyes

and fall onto his shoulder.

“Why did you do it, Kai?” I whisper. “Why did you protect me?”

‘Because he loves you,’ Wyndra answers my question. There’s no anger in her voice now. “You are his life, Lyra. He would obviously die for you.”
