The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 160

Chapter 160

I look at Kai. He’s still holding The but he isn’t smiling. He’s glaring at his father with a look of pure rage. He knows it’s a lie. He knows Rina didn’t do a damn thing. But he doesn’t say anything. He stays silent, playing the part of the perfect Prince with the perfect mate. I guess he really likes Rina if he can allow himself to be easily manipulated by his father and his mate.

Amara squeezes my hand, her eyes flashing with a quiet anger. It’s not right, Lyra. Everyone saw you come out with him.

I don’t care,I say, and for the most part, I mean it. I don’t want praises from the King. I don’t want to be on a stage. All I care about is that everyone made it out. If he wants to make her a hero to keep the image of the royal family intact, let him.

The King raises his hand again, silencing the cheers. The mood shifts instantly from celebratory to uncertain.

However, the king’s voice takes on a more serious tone, due to this disruption and the damage to our facilities, I’m afraid we must temporarily vacate the academy premises. The safety of our future leaders is paramount, and until the walls are reinforced and the dorms rebuilt, the academy is closed.

The silence that follows is deafening. Then, the murmurs start. Some students sound confused, some sound excited about an unexpected break, and others look terrified.

I’m in the terrified category.

My heart starts to race, a cold sweat breaking out on my forehead despite the heat from the fire. Vacate the academy? Does this mean I can’t study

anymore? Does it mean the training stops?

And where would I go?

The realization hits me like a blow. If the academy is closed, they’ll send us back to our packs. Back to the Valeria pack. Back to the place where my family treats me like a slave, where I’m tortured for being wolfless, and where every day is a battle just to stay alive.

As the murmurs increase and panic starts to set in among the students, King Geo raises his hand again.

Now, now, do not worry,he says, a patronizing smile touching his lips. This minivacation will only be for a few weeks. Think of it as a time to reconnect with your families and share the stories of your progress. You will all be called back soon for a grand celebration event to mark the reopening.

The crowd immediately starts to cheer again. A vacation!someone yells.

Free food and no training! The crowd laughs happily.

But I can’t hear them. Everything has gone white. The sound of my own heartbeat is drumming in my ears, loud and frantic. I don’t want to go home. In the month and a few weeks I’ve been here, despite the bullying and the chaos, I’ve felt more at home than I ever did in Valeria. Here, I have friends. Here, I

have a chance to be something.

Going back feels like a death sentence.

Amara looks at me, her expression shifting to one of deep concern. She can clearly see the panic on my face. Lyra? Will you be okay?

I try to force a smile, but I’m pretty sure it looks more like a grimace. Sure. I’ll be fine.

She doesn’t believe me. She holds my hand tighter, her eyes searching mine. Ordo you want to come with me to my pack? The Dynamite pack isn’t too

far from here.

blink, my heart skipping a beat Really? Can I really do that? Is that alowed?

Amara grins, the first smile I’ve seen on her face all night. Of course, silly! My parents would love to have you. Isolde also stays at the Dynamite pack during the breaks, and we’re very welcoming. At home, they don’t care about hierarchies and levels like they do here.

Isolde nods. She’s right! We’ll have so much fun. We have these blue moon night parties that are the best kind of way to unwind. Lots of music, hunting in the woods, and no one breathing down your neck. You’d love it.

Oh, Goddess. Thank you for my friends.

The weight on my chest lifts instantly. The relief is so intense I almost feel lightheaded. I can stay with them. I don’t have to go back home to where I’ll be treated like shit. I don’t have to see my mother’s disappointed eyes or feel my father’s cruelty.

Iyes! I’d love to come,I say, the words tumbling out of my mouth. I can’t wait to-

One last thing, the King’s voice cuts through the air, sharp as a blade.

Everyone goes quiet again. Every eye is on him.

To ensure everyone’s safety and to maintain the integrity of our pack structures in the Lycanthropy kingdom,Geo continues, his gaze sweeping through

the students, everyone is expected to leave here and go straight back to their respective packs. Absolutely no one is allowed to stay away from their own

territories. If I find out that any one of you did not go back to your home pack, you will be immediately expelled from this academy and possibly punished

for misconduct. Am I clear?
