The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance)
Chapter 171
I walk away, not looking back once. I’ve had enough of Ryan’s shit to last me the whole year. I take a moment to gather myself
before going back to the young trainees.
Later that night, the pack house is buzzing with energy. Music is already playing from the main courtyard, and the scent of roasting meat and woodsmoke fills the air. Everyone is preparing for the welcoming festival that my father is holding for me, Daisy and
Jackson.
I stand in front of the mirror in my room, looking at the girl staring back. I’m wearing a tight, black gown that stops mid–thigh. simple but cute. My silver hair is flowing down my back in soft waves, and I’ve applied just enough makeup to make my eyes, pop
I look… different. More confident.
Feeling excited, I grab my phone and take a mirror pic. I open my messages and pull up the group chat with Amara and Isolde. I
scroll past Roman’s name in my recent contacts. I want to send it to him, but I hesitate.
Would it be too much? We aren’t exactly ‘official‘ in that way yet. I decide against it and just hit send on the group chat.
Amara and Isolde reply almost instantly.
Amara: OH MY GOD. Lyra! You look HOT!!!
Isolde: Damnnnn, girl! Who are you trying to kill tonight? Because that dress is doing the work!
They both send pictures of their own outfits back. Amara is in a bright yellow sundress, and Isolde is wearing leather pants and a
crop top, looking ready for a fight or a party.
Amara: We miss you so much! Glad you’re actually having fun and not just scrubbing floors.
Isolde: Don’t let those Valeria losers bore you. See you soon!
I smile, feeling a pang of homesickness for the academy. I put my phone in my small clutch and head downstairs.
The moment I step out into the hallway, I run into Ryan. His eye is already swollen and turning a nasty shade of purple. I can’t help
but smirk.
“Nice look, Ryan,” I taunt him. “It really brings out the color of your eyes.”
He doesn’t look angry this time. He just gives me a strange, knowing smile. “It’ll be worth it soon, Lyra.”
“When you re done blabbing, you should go find Daisy,” I say, rolling my eyes. “She’s your mate now, remember? Don’t keep her waiting.”

Chapter 171
“You’ll see what happens tonight,” he says quietly as I walk past.
The party is in full swing by the time I reach the courtyard. There are lights strung up in the trees, and a huge bonfire is roaring in
the center. People are dancing, laughing, and drinking. For once, no one is pointing at me and whispering about my lack of a wolf.
After a few minutes, I find myself dancing with a girl named Brenda. She’s a year younger than me and was always one of the quiet
ones in the pack. We talk freely as we move to the music.
“I’ve always admired you secretly, Lyra Brenda says, leaning in so I can hear her over the music. “Even before you went to the
academy. You always handled everything with such grace.”
I feel shy, trying to brush it off. “Oh, it wasn’t a big deal. I just did what I had to do.”
“It was a big deal to us,” she insists. “It’s always been my dream to reach Krypton Academy. Seeing you go there and come back like
this… it makes me think maybe I can do it too.”
“Just don’t give up, Brenda,” I tell her, squeezing her hand. “Whatever the outcome is, you just have to keep pushing.”
We continue to dance for a while, lost in the rhythm. It feels good to just be a normal girl for once. No princes, no monsters.
After a while, the music dies down as my father steps onto the small wooden stage. He holds up a large golden cup, looking out at
the pack with a wide, proud smile.
“Tonight, we celebrate the return of our children along with our full moon night!” he announces. “They have represented Valeria
with honor at the academy. I want us all to raise a glass to them. Drink the moon juice and celebrate our strength!”
Everyone cheers, grabbing their glasses. A server hands one to me and one to Brenda.
I take a sip and frown immediately. “Does this taste a bit different to you?” I ask Brenda. “It’s… heavy.”
