The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance)
Chapter 172
Lyra
It’s when I look up that I realize the stars are spinning. Not just a little bit, but in giant, dizzying circles that make my stomach
churn. I try to focus on the bonfire, but the flames have blurred into a single streak of orange light. The party is winding down
Most of the pack members have already gone back inside the pack house, their voices echoing in the distance.
I’m still sitting at the edge of the clearing, my hands gripping the wooden bench so hard my knuckles ache. I feel really heavy, like
my head’s all stuffed with cotton, and everything looks kind of tunnel vision.
“Lyra? Are you okay?”
I look up, or at least I try to, Brenda is standing over me, even though her face is blurry in the dark, She looks worried.
“I don’t feel… right,” I whisper. My own voice sounds like it’s coming from the bottom of a deep well.
“What’s wrong? Did you drink too much?” Brenda asks, reaching out to steady my shoulder.
“I don’t know,” my tongue feels thick as I reply. “I only had the moon juice. Everyone else is fine. Why is it… why is it doing this to
me?”
I try to think, to process what’s happening, but my brain is suddenly blank. It’s like a curtain has been pulled over my thoughts. I
can’t remember what I was just saying. I can’t remember why I’m sitting here.
“Brenda,” I gasp, clutching her arm. “Please. Go get my Uncle Cassian. Tell him I’m sick. He’ll take care of me. Just find Cassian.”
“Okay, okay! Stay right here. Don’t move,” Brenda says. She looks panicked as she turns and runs toward the pack house.
I slump back against the bench.
‘Lyra. Something is wrong. So wrong.‘ Wyndra’s voice is faint, buzzing in the back of my mind like a dying radio. Even she sounds
distant and far away.
‘What’s going on Wyn?‘
‘I don’t know. But I know that moon juice is not supposed to make us feel like this. It’s a strengthening drink, not a poison. Our
connection… it’s being dampened. I can barely reach the surface of your mind.”
I know, I think, though even thinking is a struggle. I feel like I’m drowning.
I look around the clearing. It’s almost empty now. The only people left are a few Delta guards standing near the perimeter. They
aren’t looking at me, but I feel exposed.
“You need to go to your room,‘ Wyndra urges. ‘Now. Before you lose your legs entirely. It’s not safe to stay out here while you’re like this.‘

Chapter 172
She’s right. I need to get to my room. I can lock the door and sleep this off.
while ago, I would have been terrified of being outside alone. I remember a party a year ago, back when I was still the pack’s
floor–scrubber omega. I was cleaning up late at night, and one of the guards had cornered me. He had been eyeing me creepily all
night and when everyone was out of sight and I was alone, he had put his hands on me, his breath smelling like cheap ale, and
thought that was it. He whispered the horrible, dirty things he would do to me that night, making me paralyzed with fear.
Thankfully, Luna Sarah had walked in just as he was pinning me against the wall. But I had thought she would protect me
immediately and punish the bastard.
“He was trying to force himself on me, Luna!” I had cried, shaking with terror.
“Is that so?”
“Yes Luna! He should be punished for being a predator!” I had cried desperately.
The Luna hadn’t even looked at the guard with anger. She just looked at me with those cold, disgusted eyes. She told the guard to
