The Lycan Prinee’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance)

Chapter 201

When I reach the bottom, the scent of burning wood hits my nose. I look ahead and see the hint of a cozy living room centered around a fireplace. The anger surges through me again step forward, adjusting my shoulders, fully expecting to find Kai sitting there alone so I can rip him to shreds.

instead, I freeze completely at the entrance.

The words die in my throat as I stare into the room, my eyes widening in utter as I look at the group of people gathered around the table.

Princess Kara is seated on a sofa, her head down as she presses her phone. Next to her, Isolde and Amara are curled up together, talking to each other in hushed whispers. Across the room, Prince Roman is pacing back and forth, his expression tense and dark, Jackson is standing awkwardly in a far corner, his arms crossed over his chest, looking entirely out of place.

And standing right by the edge of the fireplace, talking in low tones, are Kai and his Beta, Damon.

Even though I didn’t make a sound, every single head in the room turns toward the doorway at the same time. I stand there, completely speechless, my mind struggling to process the scene before me.

What the hell is happening?

Before I can even say a word, Isolde and Amara quickly jump up from the sofa, rushing toward me.

They throw their arms around me at the same time, pulling me into a tight group hug

Oh my god, Lyra!Isolde cries, squeezing me tightly. We missed you so much! We were so worried about you!

We didn’t know what to do,Amara chimes in, her voice shaking as she buries her face in my shoulder. When the news of the attack on your pack came out, we almost lost our minds.

1 blink, thoroughly confused as I gently pat their backs. News?

Amara pulls back slightly, her eyes wide and bloodshot. Yes. There is news trending all over the networks about the rogue demon attack on the Valeria Pack. The media is saying the territory is completely locked down. We couldn’t stop crying at first, Lyra. We honestly thought you might have beenkilled

in the crossfire.

Kara rises from the sofa. She walks over with a soft, sympathetic expression and pulls me into another warm embrace, her soft scent filling my senses. The

T three girls hold onto me securely, a solid wall of comfort, while the guys stand back and watch the reunion in complete silence,

Kara pulls away, keeping her hands gently on my forearms. We heard about your uncle, Lyra. Jackson told us everything. I am so, so sorry for your loss. May the Moon Goddess accept his spirit in peace.

The mention of Uncle Cassian brings a sharp sting back to my eyes. I swallow the lump in my throat and sniffle, forcing a small nod. Thank you, Kara.

Thank you, guys.

From across the room, Roman finally stops his pacing. He walks over to our group, his eyes warm and gentle. He reaches out and briefly touches my cheek. Hi. Lyra. Are you fine?

I look up into his familiar face and nod weakly. I’m hanging in there.

Of course she is fine.Damon says as if he’s completely sure. She’s a strong girl. It takes a lot more than a few rogue demons to break het. Right Lyra?

Chapter 201

Campll, genuine smile finally breaks through my grief at Damon’s words. Jackson steps forward and pulls me in a hug too, whispering he’s sorry, Sorry for everything. I tell him he doesn’t need to feel guilty for anything.

Only Kai is silent but he watches meas if he’s my bodyguard.

I can’t deny that it feels good to be surrounded by people who actually care about me which makes me wonder how I’m so lucky to have them with me at

the same time.

I let the girls guide me over to the sofa, sitting down between Amara and Isolde. I look across the coffee table, my eyes darting between all of them.

How come all of you are here at the same time?I ask, my voice filled with genuine wonder. How did you event find this place? What even is this place?

The girls don’t answer me right away. Instead, they all turn their heads, looking over toward the fireplace where my gaze automatically follows.

Kara smiles sheepishly. Well, Kai brought us all here, Lyra.

And we didn’t even have to ask.Amara adds. He just called us and asked if we wished to be with our friend. And we were likeyeah! Duh!
