Chapter 210

kai

I stand at the shattered front entrance with the others. Damon, Roman, and Jackson line up right beside me, their bodies tense and their expressions grim. Behind us, Kara, Amara, and Isolde stand near the hallway, their eyes wide as they watch the tree line. Together, we form a tight barricade across the entryway of the hidden house.

The door inside is still banging and I know Lyra is trying to get out. Well, I can’t let her get captured by these things.

With a violent, angry jerk of my head, I snap its spine and toss its lifeless body into the bushes.

Get back inside!I bark at Amara in my beast’s voice, glaring at her. There’s no point fighting if you can’t handle yourself. She runs

backward through the door without a second thought.

Then I see them. Their dark figures begin to materialize. They move with an unnatural speed, their glowing eyes fixed entirely on our

position.

Listen to me!I call out to the group, keeping my eyes locked on the approaching threat. There are only about a dozen of them out there. If we all work together and hold the line, we can defeat them easily. They aren’t an army, just a scout vanguard.

Damon grips his weapon tighter. We can’t take a dozen, Kai.

We can. The important thing is to avoid their blades, I warn them. Avoid being hit by any of their weapons. Every single one of their blades is coated in deadly demon poison. One scratch can paralyze you in seconds. Keep your distance and strike to kill.

I glance at them, feeling the heavy weight of responsibility pressing down on my chest. I can’t let them die here. Not because of a

mistake.

Everyone! Shift now!I command in my Lycan voice.

Beside me, Damon and Jackson let out deep growls. The sound of cracking bones and tearing fabric echoes as their bodies stretch and expand, shifting smoothly into their massive, powerful wolf and Lycan forms. Even Roman doesn’t hesitate, he growls and transforms into his Lycan form, a dark grey beast.

I turn my focus inward, reaching deep into the dark corners of my soul where beast is waiting. Are you ready, Vlad?

Always, my beast rumbles in the back of my mind. His voice is a vibrating tremor of pure bloodlust. Let me out, Kat, let me shuughter these pathetic creatures for trying to attark us.

In is split second, I let the control slip. A roar rips from my threata sound far deeper, rougher, and more terrifying than any wall’s honch My bones violently snap and realign, my minicles expanding to twice their human size, Thick, dark fur erupts across my chin on my mansive Lycan beast takes complete control of my body. I rise to my full height, a towering creature of pure muscle, claws, and lethal pawer. My heavy claws scrape against the stone flour, leaving doup gouges in the rock,

Chapter 210

The smoke in the yard suddenly parts, and the leader of the demons steps forward into the clearing

It is Lord Varlac himself. I know him without even seeing him close because my father talks about him.

He looks absolutely terrible. His skin is a dark blue color, cracked and oozing some kind of green slime. His eyes burn with a yellow light, and two massive horns protrude from his forehead, curving back over his skull. A sword rests casually on his shoulder, He looks up at my towering beast form and lets out a taunting laugh that sounds like stones grinding together.

Well, well, well,Varlac sneers, his yellow eyes gleaming with amusement. So this is the great prince Kai. The great Lycan prince, hiding

out in a little shack in the middle of nowhere. What a pathetic, miserable sight.

I let out a low, vibrating snarl from the depths of my chest, my fangs bared as saliva drips forward.

Varlac takes another slow step forward, his gaze bypassing me to scan the windows of the house behind us. Save yourself the trouble, boy, I’m not here to fight you. Bring out the girl. Bring out Lyra right now, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll let a few of your little friends live

to see tomorrow.

The mention of her name from his disgusting mouth makes my beast go completely feral.

If you dare try to hurt a single hair on her head, you will all die! My deep, monstrous Lycan voice vibrates through the freezing air, shaking the glass in the windows. Leave this place right now, or none of you are walking away alive.

Varlac just grins like a maniac. Bold words for a dead man. Then he turns to his demon minions. Kill them all!

With a deafening shriek, the dozen demons charge forward with their poisoned blades in hand.

The battle explodes into chaotic violence. I leap off the porch, throwing my beast form directly into the center of the front line. A demon lunges at me with a spear, but I block the clumsy strike and shoot forward to snatch the creature by its throat. With one clean, brutal twist of my claws, 1 rip its head completely off its shoulders, black blood spraying across the white snow.

Another demon tries to Blank me from the left, its blade whistling through the air. I spin my body around, my heavy tall slamming directly into its chest. The impact breaks its ribs with a loud crack, sending it flying backwards. Before it can even hit the ground, I bring my claws down and tear through its flesh. I easily cut the creature completely in half. Internal organs and dark blood coat the frozen dirt

I keep my eyes moving, trying to cut a direct path toward Varlac, but three more demons throw themselves in front of the, forcing me to hack and slash through them just to move.

Around me, the others are lighting desperately. Jackson’s wolf form tears into a demon’s thigh, dragging it to the ground, whlie Daman snaps his powerful jaws around another’s neck, shaking it until the bone snaps. Roman fights too, slashing at anything that gets too close to the doorway. But the demons are incredibly fast and more than the numbers I calculated earlier. Their poisonous weapons makeli

harder to fight.
