The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance)
Chapter 220
Lyra
“Oh shit!” The words fly out of my mouth before I can even think to stop them. My face burns a bright, furious crimson as I scramble
backward, my eyes darting everywhere except at his body. “I’m so sorry. I had no idea… I was… I just…”
I stutter over my own tongue, completely unable to form a coherent sentence. Panic shoots through my veins like electricity. I grab the
strap of my bag, desperately trying to pull it closer to my chest as a shield. I need to get out of here right now. I push myself and try to
rush forward, hoping to run past Kai and escape down the hallway before my brain completely short-circuits.
But because I’m moving too fast my bag is completely unbalanced.
Just as I am about to pass his tall frame, my sneaker catches on the edge of the hallway rug. My leg trips completely.
“Ahhhh!”
A sharp cry leaves my throat as I lose my footing entirely. I crash heavily onto the hard floorboards. To make matters worse, my bag
slumps sideways, and all the contents inside spill out across the floor. All my textbooks scatter every which way, and my leather combat
gear is a messy heap right at Kai’s feet.
Frustration and embarrassment boil up in my chest. I sit there on the floor, groaning in pain as I rub my sore backside where it hit the
ground. My eyes are watering from the sting of the fall, and my heart is racing violently in my ribs.
“Are you alright?” Kai’s deep voice echoes from right above me.
I shouldn’t have looked up. I really shouldn’t.
Because the moment I do, I realize exactly how close he is standing. My eyes don’t hit his face. Instead, the first thing right in front of my
face is his long, thick dick.
It is completely exposed, standing rigid and heavy, blocking my entire field of vision and preventing me from seeing his face at all.
Goddess!
My breath freezes completely. A gasp dies in my throat, and my face flushes so hot I feel like I might actually combust. I violently snap
my gaze down to the floor, my eyes wide with panic as I stare intently at a random spot on the ground.
“Can you… for the love of goddess’s sake, wear something?!” I screech, my voice high with desperation.
A low, deep chuckle rumbles from his chest. The sound is completely unexpected, vibrating through the small space between us. Kai steps
aside, his large feet moving out of my peripheral vision.

I keep my eyes glued to the floor, listening to the rustle of fabric from the nearby room. When I finally dare to turn my head up again a few seconds later, he has a dark gray towel wrapped loosely around his waist. It isn’t much coverage, and it sits dangerously low on his sharp hip bones, but at least it completely covers his goodies.
I let out a shaky breath, clearing my throat loudly to chase away the suffocating awkwardness. Without saying another word, i scramble onto my hands and knees and begin frantically grabbing my spilled things. I shove the history books back into the bag, pile the notebooks on top, and stuff the materials back inside. I pull the zipper shut, grab my bag, and stand up to face him.
Kai is standing perfectly still, watching my every move in complete silence. He looks down at me, his expression entirely unreadable, and the intensity of his gaze makes my heart race with a terrifying mix of fear and excitement. It’s been so long since I saw him this close in person. Four whole months of staring at photos on internet gossip pages, and now he is standing right here, breathing the same air, close enough for me to touch.
The tension is so thick it feels heavy, pressing down on my chest until I can barely draw oxygen. I try to look away, desperate to break the connection, but the way his green eyes burn into me makes me feel completely exposed. It feels like he can see right through my skin, reading every single bit of the heartbreak I have been hiding.
1 clear my throat once more, trying to find my courage.
Kai finally breaks the silence, his voice dropping into a hard, stern register.
“What are you doing in my apartment, Lyra?” He isn’t smiling at me. There is no warmth left in his handsome features.
