Chapter 225
A soft smile spreads across his handsome face. He slowly lowers his hand away from my mouth.

“You talk too much, little fox,” he whispers gently.
A loud gasp escapes my lips at his words. My entire body turns completely to ice, the words hitting me like a blow to the stomach.
“What…” My voice trembles so hard I can barely form the syllable. “Why… why did you call me that? How do you know about that…um..
word?”
Nobody at Krypton Academy knows about my inner fox. Everyone thinks I am just a useless, wolfless girl. The only people that know are
Kai and my friends. No one else should know this.
Nick chuckles softly, his eyes shining with warmth. “Because I know you, you silly girl.”
I shake my head, my hands trembling as I grip the strap of my bag like a lifeline. “How? How could you possibly know me? We met in the
library three months ago! I’m just an outcast from a tiny, insignificant pack. So how do you know me?”
Nick’s expression softens even more, a deep sorrow washing over his features. He takes a slow step back, giving me space to breathe, but
his eyes never leave mine.
“I knew you long before you were ever born, Lyra,” he says quietly. “I knew you when your name was Astra. And I’ve been looking for you
for a very long time.”
Did… did he just call me… Astra?
The breath completely leaves my lungs. I sit down on a stone near the wall, my mind spinning into a state of absolute chaos. The name
hits my brain like an explosion, triggering a massive wave of dizziness.
Astra.
That’s when I remember the dream I had those months ago. The baby girl from my nightmare. The child from who was held by a King and
Queen before the terrifying demon broke through the dark to slaughter them. The baby who was stabbed with a glowing white wooden
knife by her own father to save her from the demon. That’s what they called the baby. Does he mean…?
“No,” I whisper, pressing my palms against my temples. “No, this is insane. You’re crazy. That was just a dream. It was a horrible, vivid
nightmare I had when I was locked in a basement. It isn’t real.”
“It is real,” Nick says, stepping toward a large, heavy iron door at the end of the passage. He pushes it open, revealing a massive, circular
stone vault hidden under the school. In the center sits an old stone altar glowing with a faint, warm white light. “Our father, King Nevara, used a forbidden time ritual to save your soul. He sacrificed your physical body that night to cast you far into the future so Yaros couldn’t
steal your power. You were reborn eighteen years ago in a regular territory, completely hidden from the supernatural world.”

I follow him into the room on completely numb legs, staring at the ancient carvings of sunbursts and stars on the walls. My chest feels
incredibly tight.
“If that’s true,” I stammer, my voice rising with a heavy dose of denial. “Then who are you, Nick? Tell me who you really are!”
Nick turns around to face me fully under the warm light of the altar. “I am Prince Nicholas, Lyra. I am your older brother. I survived the
slaughter because our mother hid me in the secret catacombs before Yaros breached the inner sanctum. I have spent the last eighteen
years tracking the residual energy of your soul across the kingdoms until I finally found you.”

“My… my brother?”
A disbelieving laugh bubbles up in my throat. I shake my head, tears of pure confusion and stress gathering in my eyes. “No! I don’t
believe you! I am Lyra Diamond. I am a wolfless nobody who was abandoned in the woods and raised by a pack that treated me like dirt. I
am not a princess, and I don’t have a magical brother with silver hair! I don’t want this! I just wanted to get my books and pass my
