Chapter 231
All through the remaining thirty minutes of the lecture, Miss Genova doesn’t bother to check my phone even once. She keeps it resting face-down on her table while she focuses all her attention on explaining historical wolf battles directly to Nick.
Since my phone is face-down, the screen naturally goes off after a few minutes. I finally sigh in relief. Even if the woman decides to hold onto the device until the end of the day, she won’t be able to see a single text message as long as I don’t physically unlock it
for her.
When the history lecture finally ends, the bell rings loudly through the corridors. Miss Genova steps up to the microphone, her
voice snapping everyone out of their daze.
“Make sure to complete your research papers for your homework, everyone,” she announces, packing up her digital slides. “It is very
important for your final grades.”
All students begin to pack their bags, chatting loudly as they head for the exit. I quickly grab my backpack, hoping to slip out with
the crowd, but before I can reach the aisle, the teacher’s voice cuts through the noise.
“Lyra Diamond. Come down here for a moment.”
I tense up instantly. My muscles are locked. My nervousness comes rushing back in a hot wave. I reluctantly walk down the concrete
steps until I am standing right in front of her high podium.
Miss Genova stares down at me in absolute silence for a long, uncomfortable moment. Then she picks up my black phone from the
desk and taps the screen.
“You should know that texting during my lectures is strictly prohibited, Lyra,” her eyes narrow slightly.
“I know, ma’am. I am so sorry,” I say quickly, keeping my voice low and polite. “It was an accident. I promise it won’t happen again.”
“Well,” Genova says, holding the phone tightly in her grip, keeping it just out of my reach. “Before I decide to give you back your device, I must know exactly what you were doing. Who were you chatting with so intensely that you ignored my entire lesson? Start
talking.”
Fear and panic claw at my throat. My mind goes completely blank as I try to form a believable excuse. I can’t tell her it was a random guy, and I definitely can’t tell her the truth. My lips part, but no words come out.
Just then, a heavy arm suddenly wraps securely around my shoulder.
I jump slightly, looking up in surprise to see Nick standing right beside me. He gives my shoulder a reassuring squeeze before turning a brilliant, dazzling smile toward Teacher Genova.
“Pardon me, Miss Genova,” Nick says smoothly with a voice full of easy charm. “Lyra was actually chatting with me. She’s my sister, you see. I just transfered in today, and I was completely lost in the west block. She was only trying to type out the directions to this classroom when you must have seized her phone. I assure you, my sister is a very disciplined she-wolf, and I deeply apologize

for causing any trouble in your class.”
Miss Genova’s eyes widen in realization. “Oooh! Your sister? I should have known!” She looks between the two of us, her gaze
lingering on our hair. “Now that I’m seeing you up close, you both look remarkably alike. It’s no wonder. The beauty seems to run in
your bloodline. One of you has the kingdom’s Princes fighting over her like rabid dogs, while the other walks in and has every single
female wolf in this academy drooling like a newborn pup seeing fresh meat for the first time.”
I quickly look away, my cheeks burning with a deep, mortified embarrassment: Princes fighting over me like rabid dogs? She must be
talking about the old rumors involving Kai and Roman.
Nick doesn’t seem bothered at all. He just laughs at the woman’s silly jokes, playing the part of the charming brother perfectly.
“You can have your phone back, Lyra, Miss Genova says, finally sliding the device across the table. “Just don’t let it happen again
“Thank you, ma’am,” we both say in unison.
I grab my phone, quickly stuffing it deep into my backpack before we turn around and step out of the classroom. The moment we
cross into the crowded hallway, I can feel dozens of eyes on us. The students standing by the lockers are whispering, pointing at
Nick, and trying to figure out who he is.
I pull Nick into a quieter space. I glare up at him.
“What the hell, Nick?!” I hiss under my breath, my voice shaking with anger and anxiety. “What do you think you are doing? How
