Chapter 236
“I know, sweetie,” Amara says, sitting up and swinging her legs over the edge of her bed. “And we will definitely go do that some other time. But as for tonight, we are going to that bonfire party. You promised Andrew, and you are not backing out.”
I let out a loud groan and bury my face in a pillow. I have absolutely no choice.
As the sun sets and evening finally comes, the atmosphere of the academy’s dorm changes. The building starts getting completely empty as hundreds of students make their way out into the night, heading toward the open woods where the bonfire party is happening.
I stand in front of the full-length mirror in our room, pulling at the hem of my clothes. I am wearing a black short skirt and a simple white crop top. It feels a bit too revealing for my usual style, so I coupled it with the soft pink cardigan that Princess Kara gifted me a while ago. It wraps around me comfortably, making me feel a bit more secure. I shake out my hair, letting the long silver waves sleep down my back in soft, loose patterns. I didn’t do much with my face, just a tiny bit of concealer to hide the dark circles under my eyes and a pink lipgloss.
The bathroom door opens, and Amara steps out. Wow. She looks absolutely beautiful. Her bright red hair is pinned up in a stylish, messy bun, and she is wearing a pair of tight bumshorts that show off her long legs. Her makeup is flashy and perfect, emphasizing her sharp eyes.
Amara walks over to me, looking at my reflection in the mirror. A grin spreads across her face. “Oh, wow. Lyra, you look incredible. The princes are going to completely lose their minds tonight!”
“Amara, please shut up,” I say as I feel my cheeks flushing a bright red.
She just laughs at me. “I’m serious! You look like a total dream. Andy is very lucky!”
Right on cue, my phone dings loudly on the nightstand. I pick it up and slide the screen open. It’s a text message from Andrew, the Level 3 he-wolf who is supposed to be my date for the evening.
>Hey, Lyra. I’m waiting right outside the main entrance of your dorm building. Take your time>.
“He’s here,” I mutter.
Amara nudges my shoulder with her elbow, teasing me with a wicked smirk, “Let’s go on then! Don’t keep the handsome Level 3 wolf waiting. And try to loosen up and have funnnn”
“Nothing crazy is happening tonight, Amara. I am just talking to him, and probably dancing a little bit. That’s it.”
“Sure, sure,” she winks. Gosh. This girl.
We walk down the stairs together and step outside into the cool evening air. The front courtyard is lit up by lamps, and standing under one of them is Andrew.

Chapter 236
I take a moment to look at him as we approach. He actually looks handsome. He is wearing a dark, fitted leather jacket over a grey
t-shirt, paired with black jeans and heavy boots. His hair is perfectly styled, and he carries himself with that effortless confidence
that all the high-ranking wolves in the academy possess.
When he catches sight of me, his eyes light up. He walks forward, a warm smile spreading across his lips. “Wow. Hey, Lyra. You look
absolutely stunning tonight.”
“Thank you, Andrew, I say, offering him a small smile. “You look great too.”
He steps closer, leaning his head down as if he intends to kiss my cheek in greeting. My instincts instantly flare up, and before can even think, I shift my weight slightly, awkwardly tilting my head away so his lips completely miss my face.
Andrew freezes for a fraction of a second. He pulls back, rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish, embarrassed expression. H clears his throat. Right. Clear boundaries Still just friends for now. Sorry about that, Lyra. I didn’t mean to be too forward./
“Um…It’s fine, I say quickly, trying to erase the sudden tension. “Don’t worry about it.”
Before the awkwardness can settle in. Amara s date walks up to join us. He is another tall, muscular wolf from the upper classes. She told me about him earlier but I didn’t even think she was serious. I think she said his name is Dariel or something.
