The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 280

Chapter 280

I stare at Lyra, my eyes scanning every single inch of her face.

A thought suddenly creeps into my mind. Does she actually remember me? Has she remembered everything this entire time, and

she is just pretending not to?

The thought makes my stomach twist into a painful knot. If she is lying about her memory loss, why would she do it? Does she trul hate me to the extent that she has to pretend I’m a stranger just to chase me away from her? Is she trying to protect herself from

me?

Before I can spiral any deeper into my own dark thoughts, Lyra speaks up again, answering the unasked question in my eyes.

“The reason why I’m asking,” she says hesitantly as she looks at my rigid expression, “is because… well, today during the assessment test, I healed a teammate of mine who got horribly injured by a demon wolf. And during the exact moment I let my essence enter into her to heal her, I had a sudden-”

“Wait,” I cut her short, my voice making her flinch. My entire body goes completely rigid as the word healed registers in my brain. “You… you healed someone? With your powers?!”

My heart drops straight into my stomach. Panic seizes me, completely erasing the warmth from a moment ago. She used her healing powers? Out in the open? Where the academy instructors, the cameras, and other students could see her?

f anyone realizes what she can do, if anyone finds out about the nature of her and Shit. This is bad. This is incredibly dangerous. what she is, she will become a target in the school and I don’t know if I can protect her. They will hunt her down. My father will

find out.

Lyra looks at me, her expression turning completely confused and a little frightened by my sudden outburst. “Yes,” she says defensively. “I healed her. Why? What happened? Why are you looking like that?”

I don’t answer her question. Panic drives my actions. I reach out and grab her forearm, my grip firm but careful not to hurt her. I lean in closer, my voice dropping to an urgent growl.

“Tell me immediately who you healed, Lyra. And the other team members. Right now. Give me their name and their level.”

Lyra flinches slightly, looking at my hand on her arm. She answers hesitantly in a small voice. “Her name is Clara, Clara Thorne, She’s a level one student. She was on my team. And the rest… I can’t really remember. Why?”

“Okay,” I say, my jaw tightly clenched as I release her arm. I stand up to my full height, ready to leave. “Stay here. I’ll be right

back.”

But before I can even take a step, Lyra reaches out and grabs my shoulder with surprising strength. She pulls downward, forcing me to lean back toward her. I look down and see fear and anger burning in her bright blue eyes.

“Where are you going?” she demands, voice shaking but fierce. “Tell me where you are going, Kai! I hope you aren’t thinking of

attacking Clara. She’s my friend now, and she did absolutely nothing wrong! She saved my life today!”

I look down at her impatiently. The clock is ticking. Every second Clara is left alone is a second she could be bragging to her friends about being magically healed by Lyra. I can’t have that happen.

“I’m not going to kill her, Lyra,” I snap tightly. “I’m just going to find her, threaten her a little bit, and make sure she keeps her damn mouth completely shut about your powers. It’s the only way.”

“No!” Lyra yells, her face flushing with anger as she pulls harder on my shoulder. “I will not allow it! You can’t just go around threatening people and terrifying them just because you feel like it! You can’t use your status to bully my friends”

“It is for your own safety!” I yell back at her, losing my patience entirely. “You don’t understand the danger you are in, Lyra! If people find out what you can do, they will destroy you!”
