1 stare at him, completely speechless, my mouth hanging open slightly. The sheer intensity of his gaze is completely overwhelming. This prince is driving me absolutely crazy without even trying, in such a short period of time. I don’t know how to handle him.

Kara clears her throat loudly, breaking our intense eye contact. “Okay, maybe I should actually leave the room and give you both some privacy, since you

both seem to be locked in a fiery match of your own private world right now.”

The moment she mentions leaving, panic flashes through me. I cannot be left alone with Kai again. Not after what just happened. I immediately scramble off the sofa and hurry toward Kara. I grab her arm, desperate to put some physical distance betweer, myself and the crown prince.

“Don’t leave, please,” I tell Kara, my voice pleading. “Stay here.”

Kai chackles darkly behind me, standing up from where he was. He looks at me with an amused expression, though his eyes are entirely soft. “Lyra is right, Kara. Don’t leave. Anyway, I actually have to go check on something urgent with my faculty’s dean.”

He steps closer to us and stops right in front of me, his large frame towering over me. He looks at me with a tender expression. “Will you be okay?”

I simply nod my head, keeping my arms crossed over my chest. “Yes. I’ll be fine.”
