The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 287

Chapter 287

I blink in surprise, pulling back stightly. “A vacation? Why so sudden, Roman? We’re still in the middle of session.”

Roman’s expression turns soft as his thumb gently rub the back of my hand. “I really just want you to be away from this stressful academy for a while. Wit your memory loss, the intense tests, and everything else happening around here, you haven’t had a moment to just breathe. I want to take you somewhere quiet where you don’t have to worry about anything.”.

I hesitate for a moment. My mind immediately screams at me about the danger Kara warned me about, and the fact that I just kissed his cousin a few hour ago. But looking at Roman’s sweet, hopeful face, I feel like I owe him this. I need to distance myself from Kai anyway.

“Okay,” I say softly, nodding my head. “Let’s do it.”

Roman’s face lights up with a brilliant, happy smile. “Awesome. I’ll handle all the arrangements.”

The rest of the game passes in a blur of violence and loud cheering. When the final whistle blows and the crowd begins to stream out of the exits, I stand up from my seat along with Amara and Isolde.

I turn to face Roman, who is standing right beside me. “Goodnight, Roman. I’ll see you tomorrow in class.”

“Goodnight, beautiful,” Roman says. He steps in close, wrapping a hand around the back of my waist as he leans down, intending to kiss me directly on my

lips.

Panic flares up in my chest. Before I can stop myself, the image of Kai’s lips flashes in my mind. I quickly tilt my head to the side at the very last second. Roman’s lips miss my mouth, landing on my cheek instead.

An incredibly awkward silence falls over us. Roman pulls back slowly, his eyes narrow with visible disappointment as the bright smile completely on his face

disappears.

“I…I’m sorry..” I whisper awkwardly, feeling like the ground should open up and swallow me

He clears his throat, looking down at the ground for a brief second before forcing a tight, slightly strained chuckle.

“It’s okay,” Roman says, his voice laced with a subtle hint of bitterness. “At least I don’t have to watch any cousin kiss you instead.”

Shit.

I look down as guilt and heavy embarrassment crash over me after what he just said.. My face burns so hot I feel like I’m going to catch fire. I’m unable to meet his eyes. Does he know something? Or is he just being paranoid about Kai? I’m entirely speechless.

As if it wasn’t bad enough, behind me, Amara and Isolde snort out loud, covering their mouths. They are clearly holding in their laughter because I can vee their shoulders shaking violently as they try to keep straight faces. They definitely heard every single word Roman just said. I hate these giris.

Roman frowns, eyes darting past my shoulder to look at my friends. “Why are you guys laughing? Did I say something funny?”

I open my mouth to speak, but my throat feels completely dry. I’m totally speechless, unable to find a sensible excuse

Thankfuls, Amare quickly steps in, plastering a huge, fake smile on het fare as she waves her hand dismissively “Oh, it’s nothing, Roman Senously! It’s just because the two of you are both an incredibly cute and awkward to watch it’s like watching a high school remove. It’s just adorable”

Roman’s tense-shoulders relax slightly, and the suspicion leaves his eyes. A small smile returns to his face. “Right. Well, goodnight girls. Get back to the dorm safely. He turns around and disappears into the crowd of departing students.

The exact moment Roman is completely out of earshot, Amara and Isolde burst into a fit of loud, hysterical laughter. They grab onto each other for supp as we begin walking back toward ous dorm building.

“Can you two be normal for once?!”

“Oh my goddess!” Amara giggles, mimicking Roman’s serious tone. At least I don’t have to watch my cousin kiss you instead!’ Girl, if he only knew how you were jumping his cousin’s bones earlier today, he would literally pass out right then and there!”

“Shut up, ams!” I growl, glaring at my friend.

Isolde laughs along, shaking her head at me. “But the way you dodged his kiss was brutal, Lyra. Your reflexes were like a high-level warrior. It was hilario

The bright light floods the bedroom, and my eyes immediately lock onto my bed.

My breath completely freezes in my lungs at the scene.

Resting right in the center of my white mattress is my favorite textbook, but it is completely ruined. The pages are bloated, wrinkled, and soaked completely through with some kind of liquid that has stained the bedsheets.

But that isn’t the worst part

Sitting on top of the soaked book is the severed head of a stuffed animal. It is a plush toy, but the head looks inhal to a wild fox. The fake orange hit is matted, and the glass eyes stare straight at me lifelessly.

And then there’s a piece of white paper with something written on it.
