The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance)
Chapter 299
Kai stiffens against my touch, his heavy breathing loud in the quiet room. Slowly, he lowers his fist. He glares down at Roman’s semi-conscious fort
floor
“If you ever try to force yourself on Lyra ever again Kai growls, his-tone leaving absolutely no room for doubt, “I swear to the Goddess, I will break single bone in your pathetic body. Get the fuck out of my sight.”
Kai turns around sharply, grabbing my hand in a firm, protective grip. He doesn’t wait for a response. He pulls me along with him, leading me out of
ruined bedroom and straight out of the apartment.
As we step out of the building and hit the cool night air of the academy grounds, Kai finally slows down his frantic pace. He turns his head to look d
me, his expression filled with intense concern.
“Are you okay, Lyra?” His voice is very quiet and gentle as he asks, compared to the monster he was a second ago. “Did he hurt you? Did he touch you anywhere else?”
I shake my head, rubbing my sore waist where Roman had squeezed me. “No, I’m okay. I’m fine. But… Kai, you shouldn’t have hit him like that. He wa! frustrated and confused. You almost killed him.”
Kai’s jaw cienches tightly as we continue walking down the dark path. “I don’t care about his frustration, Lyra. He crossed the line. And if I could go ba time, I would do it again. I would hit him even harder. Nobody forces themselves on you. Not me, not him. Not anyone else.”
I look at him, shaking my head at his stubbornness, but a strange, fluttering feeling forms deep in my stomach an
I look around the dark path, noticing the complete silence around us. I frown, realizing something is missing. Wait… where are Amara and Isolde? And Nick? I thought they were waiting in the hallway.”
Kai keeps his eyes locked on the path ahead while his grip on my hand remains warm and steady, “They decided to go stay at Nick’s place for the night. Apparently, your brother refused to let Isolde out of his sight after the break-in, claiming it’s safer for her to be with him and Amara opted to step out of the academy grounds for a change as well. Your friends told me to tell you that they’ll be back at the academy tomorow morning.”
“Oh,” I mutter quietly, nodding my head. “Okay. I guess that makes sense.”
The rest of the walk to Kara’s royal apartment is completely silent. The only sound is the Anching of leaves beneath our boots and the quietustle of the wind through the trees. But the silence isn’t entirely peaceful. Every five minutes, like clockwork, Kai stops walking, turns his massive body to face me, and looks down at my slightly limping leg with an incredibly intense, overprotective frown.
“Are you sure you’re okay to walk, Lyra?” he asks for the fourth time in a strained voice. “Your leg is still injured from the forest. Just let me carry you. It will be much faster, and you won’t strain your muscles.”
I coll my eyes, a small, amused smile tugs at my lips despite the stress of the night. “Kai, for the hundredth time, I am fine. Kara’s painkillers are working like magic. I can walk on my own two feet, Stop asking me every now and then.”
Kai lets out a frustrated grunt, but he doesn’t argue. He simply tightens his grip on my fingers and cones leading me through the dark campus groundi unni the tall, luxurious, towers of the royal residential wing loom ahead of us.
Kai pulls out a gold keycard and slides it through the electronic lock of Kara’s front door. The machine clicks open with a soft beep, and he pushes the heavy door open, stepping exide to ter se walk in first
The moment I step inside, I realize that the living room is pitch black and drad silent. The curtains are drawn tight, atul there isn’t a single sound coming

from the kitchen or the bedrooms.
I blink into the darkness, turning around to face Kai as he closes the front door behind us. “Where is Kara? Is she already asleep in her room?”
Just as the question leaves my mouth, the phone inside my jacket pocket suddenly vibrates with a sharp buzz.
I pull the device out, the bright screen lighting up the room a bit. I see a new notification.
It’s a text message from Kara herself. I look up at Kai. “Hold on, your sister just texted me.”
I tap the notification, opening the text thread. My eyes scan the words quickly:
Cara: Hey girl, I heard about what happened at your dorm. I am so sorry you had to see such a horrible thing. I hope the bastard is caught Anyway, Kai told me you guys are coming over to stay at my apartment tonight, yay!
Ps: I’m actually not around right now. Spending the night over at Mia’s place. We have some serious scores to settle and things to discuss 😉 Anyways, make yourself completely at home have fun. With my brother of course! Haha! See you tomorrow!
