Chapter 311

Slave (Academy Romance)

Damon: Kai, we have a situation. There was another attempt to breakin at the girlsapartment block about an hour ago. You need to get down here.

I swear under my breath, my grip tightening on the phone. Another breakin? With everything going on, and the creepy note Lyra received, my instincts instantly go on high alert. The attacker is definitely bold and thinks he can do whatever he wants. He’s in for a surprise.

I look down at Lyra, gently trying to stand up without shifting the mattress too much. I slowly slide my arm out from under her head and tuck the warm blanket around her bare shoulders. Leaning down, I press a soft, lingering kiss to her forehead right over her scar.

I’ll be back soon, flower,I whisper against her skin.

She stirs a bit, letting out a soft, sleepy murmur, but then she rolls over onto her side and goes right back to sleep. I watch her for a long moment, making sure she is completely settled, before I quietly leave the guest bedroom and walk out of the apartment.

When I step out into the hallway of the royal block, it is still very early in the morning. I check my phone, it’s barely five o’clock. The hallway is completely silent, and the air is freezing cold. I walk down to the elevator, my mind racing with thoughts of the breakin, wondering if whoever targeted Lyra is an insider or an outsider. Only a few students are out at this hour, mostly highranking guards or earlymorning trainers.

The elevator doors slide open with a ding when I reach the ground floor. The moment I step out of the elevator, I walk right into someone who was standing way too close to the door, completely blocking the exit.

The collision is sudden and of my size and weight, the person bounces right off my chest with a gasp, tumbling backward and hitting the floor hard. I blink, looking down. It’s a girl. She is sitting on the cold tiles, facing the ground, and covering her face with her hands as if

she’s terrified I’m going to yell at her.

I let out a breath, forcing my initial irritation down. Are you alright?I ask, stepping forward. I’m about to help her to her feet but she beats me to it as she rushes up and stands fully and looks up at me. I immediately pause as we look at each other.

The girl looksfamiliar. I scan her face, trying to place where I’ve seen her, but my mind is blank. Her hair is a deep, raven black, falling in straight strands around her shoulders, and her eyes are a striking blue. She is built small and delicate, looking completely shy and

undeniably beautiful.

But what shocks me the most is her forehead. Right near her hairline, she has a tiny scar on her head. It looks exactly like Lyra’s, located in the precise spot where Lyra was injured after the demon attack. I stare at the mark, feeling a strange sense of unease wash over me.

The girl immediately bows her head, her cheeks flushing red as she steps back, trembling. Pardon me, Prince Kai. I am so sorry. I wasn’t looking at where I was going. I didn’t mean to block the elevator.

I clear my throat, dropping my hand to my side. Who are you? What’s your name?

the, your highness. I recently transferred here from Ravenwood Academy. I just arrived from the Eastern part of Lycanthropy to Krypton yesterday.

I raise an eyebrow. I have actually heard of Ravenwood Academy once or twice during royal meetings. It’s a specialized academy located far in the Eastern part of the kingdom, built specifically for other species shifters like bears, snakes, tigers, and many more. It’s rare for anyone from Ravenwood to transfer to a Lycan/wolfdominated school like Krypton.

A transfer from the East?I ask, keeping my voice neutral. Why did you leave Ravenwood?

Marine looks down at her shoes, her fingers twisting the fabric of her oversized sweater. They transferred me becausebecause I’m

different. I’ve been without my shifter animal all my life. I never shifted. I was labeled a weakling and an outcast by my peers, so my

family thought a change of environment would be best.
