The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 316

Chapter 316

Roman’s POV

I walk through the darkness, my footsteps echoing on the floor as I enter the hidden, shadowdrenched house where the demon lord, Varlac stays.

I don’t even make it past the main foyer before two huge blue demon guards step out from the darkness, blocking my path with their

heavy blades raised. Their blue, veined skin instantly makes me feel sick. The veins are moving animatedly all over their body, looking

like sticky worms.

Stop right there, Lycan, one of them snarls, his eyes glowing with an ugly yellow tint. You don’t have permission to be here.

I clench my fists as my beast’s anger flares up instantly. I glare right back at them. Get the fuck out of my way. Where is Varlac? I need

to speak with him right now.

The guards don’t move an inch. The second one steps closer, pressing his blade dangerously close to my chest. The lord will not see you tonight, boy. Turn around and leave before we tear you apart.

A low growl rips from my throat. My claws begin to slip out of my fingertips and my muscles start shifting as I prepare to throw the first punch and fight my way through them. I don’t have time for this shit. My entire plan is falling apart, and these lowlevel monsters are

standing in my way.

Guys, stand down,a deep voice suddenly echoes through the dark hallway.

The two guards instantly freeze, lower their weapons, and step back into the shadows, bowing their heads in respect. I look up and see Lord Varlac walking slowly out of the shadows. He waves a lazy hand at his guards, a cruel smirk resting on his pale face.

Do not worry about him,Varlac tells the guards, his voice dripping with amusement. Let the unimportant Lycan Prince come in. Let’s

hear what he has to say.

My jaw clenches so tight that my teeth ache at the blatant insult. Unimportant. He thinks I am just a pawn in his little game, but I keep my mouth shut and swallow my pride. I need answers, not a petty brawl. I follow him silently as he walks further into the dark house, my eyes fixed on the back of his black cloak.

Varlac walks into a room and seats himself comfortably on his large throne chair. He crosses his legs, leaning his chin on his hand as he looks down at me. So, to what do I owe the pleasure of this impromptu visit, Prince Roman? I thought you were supposed to be busy isolating your pretty little mate.

I don’t waste any time with pleasantries. I take a step forward, glaring up at the demon lord with pure rage.

Are you the one who broke into Lyra’s apartment block last night? Answer me! Did you drop that horrible message and leave those bloodsoaked sheets?

Chapter 316

Varlac stays completely quiet at first. He just stares at me, his dark eyes entirely unreadable as the silence stretches through the rooms, Then, a slow, mocking smile spreads across his lips. And so what if I am the one who did it? What are you going to do about it, boy? Am

I not allowed to give our phoenix fox a little heads up of what’s coming her way?

Why the fuck would you do that?I hiss, my frustration completely boiling over, I run a hand through my hair, pacing around the room

like a trapped animal. I told you I was handling it! I told you I was keeping her away from my cousin! Your fucking heads up has

completely messed up all my plans! Do you have any idea what you did? What you did last night only made her run closer to my damn

cousin! She spent the whole night in his apartment because she was terrified!

Varlac lets out a loud, booming laugh as if I just told him a comic joke. Well, that is not my problem, Roman. None of that will matter anyway when the master finally comes to claim her. She belongs to him. She was chosen to be his bride even before her birth. No matter who she is with right now, no matter how close she gets to Prince Kai, she is the master’s bride and he will have her whenever he comes.

I stare at the demon lord, as a feeling of cold horror hits me. I should have known better. I should have known that these demons are nothing but absolute psychopaths when they first approached me with the offer in the forest. When they promised me that they would erase her memories of Kai forever so she could be mine, they omitted the most important part. I didn’t know they were trying to get Lyra

for their stupid monster demon master, whatever his name is.

They don’t want to help me. They just want to use me to deliver her to a monster.

You know what?I say, dropping my voice to a low, icy level as I stare Varlac down. You can tell your master that the deal is completely off. You didn’t keep up your end of the bargain anyway. Lyra still remembers my cousin. She’s having flashbacks, and she’s falling for him all over again. You failed. So I am not giving you Lyra. Not now, and not ever. She belongs to me and me alone.

The demon lord stares at me for a few silent seconds, Then he bursts into a fit of laughter, shaking his head as if I just told the funniest

joke in the world.

Oh you irrelevant prince.Varlac chuckles, wiping a fake tear from his eye. You think you can just walk away from a contract with the

shadow realm?

Yes I do, and that is exactly what I came here to tell you,I snap, taking another step toward his throne to assert some kind of dominance. If I have to, I will go straight to Kai and tell him everything about your little master. He will murder anyone who tries to harm her. He will tear this entire house down to protect his mate.

Varlac’s laughter cuts off instantly. His expression turns pitchblack, a murderous glint appearing in his eyes. He slowly rises from his throne, stepping down the stone stairs until he is standing right in front of me.
