Chapter 315

I stare at his worried I face for a long moment. The pain in my chest is too sharp, the image of that girl too fresh. I shake my head, backing away from him.

“No,” I whisper, shaking my head.

“Maybe this is the wake–up call I needed. Last night was fun, it was beautiful, but that’s all it was. A temporary escape from the mess my life has become.”

I look at him as my heart aches terribly. “Just leave me alone, Kai.”

Kai stays completely speechless as he stares at me. He doesn’t move, his mouth is slightly open as if he wants to argue, but the finality in my tone completely silences him. I turn my back on him and rush down the hall to the guest room. I slam the heavy wooden door shut and turn the lock quickly.

I lean my back against the locked door, sliding down until I am sitting flat on the floor, burying my face in my knees. More tears stream down my face, hot and unstoppable. I cover my mouth to muffle my sobs, my chest aching so badly I can barely breathe.

I should have known that this wouldn’t work out. I don’t even remember our past completely, I don’t even remember Kai fully, but I feel

so incredibly betrayed. What kind of feeling is this? Why does it hurt this much if he’s supposedly a blank space in my mind? My soul

remembers him, even if my brain doesn’t, and the pain is tearing me apart.

I take a deep, shaky breath, trying to steady my trembling hands. I pull my phone out of my pocket. I can’t stay here anymore. I need to get away from this block, away from Krypton Academy, and away from him. I open my contacts, searching for the one person I can trust right now. I need to call my Nick, so he can come get me. I need to leave before I completely lose my mind.

Suddenly, a loud bang rattles the door right behind my head. I jump up from the floor, stumbling backward away from the door as my

heart leaps into my throat.

“You’re not fucking going anywhere until we’ve spoken about this, do you hear me, Lyra?” Kai’s voice booms from the hallway, laced with fury and desperation. “Open the damn door right now.”

He bangs on the wooden door again, making the hinges creak. Is he actually serious right now? “Get out, Kai! Just leave me alone! I don’t want to hear anything you have to say! Just go away!”

“Open the door, Lyra!” he insists, his voice dropping into a dark, dangerous promise. “I swear to fuck, I will break this door down right now if you don’t sit down and listen to me you stubborn fox!”

I don’t answer him. I shift back further into the room, holding my phone tightly as I wonder if he’ll really do it. Is he really crazy enough to destroy his sister’s property just to talk to me?

After a few seconds, the banging stops. Nothing happens. I let out a shaky breath, my shoulders relaxing slightly as I stare at the door. He must have finally given up and left. Did he go back to that girl?

Chapter 315

Suddenly, before I can even take another step, the door is banged so loudly that the entire room vibrates. The door violently rips open, and the thick wood splinters into pieces, dangling off the wall as Kai breaks the door down with his bare hands.

I let out a loud gasp as Kai walks into the room and glares at me with his red eyes that’s glowing in the dim light.

He actually broke the door.
