The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 320

Chapter 320

Kai

The intense energy in the room swirls around us like a storm, thick and suffocating. Lyra is backed against me, panting hard with her head tilted up to expose her bare neck.

I feel Vlad on the surface as my fangs elongate and hover above her pulsing veins, the sweet, intoxicating scent of her skin driving my beast entirely insane.

I really wanted to be patient with her. Goddess knows I tried to hold myself back, to give her the time and space to piece her broken mind back together. But it seems Lyra just drives me crazy to the point that I am completely desperate to have her all to myself. Forever.

The raw hunger in my veins burns like liquid fire. Once my mate mark is permanently burned into her soul, no one will be able to stop me from keeping her again. Not my cruel father, not my scheming cousin, not even her ancient phoenix lineage or whatever demon lord is lurking in the shadows trying to take her away from me. She would be mine, bound to my soul, even if we both die in the process.

My muscles tense. I part my lips wider, my fangs scraping against her skin, ready to finally bite down and claim my mate.

Suddenly, a sharp knock hits my mind. I freeze completely, my jaw locking up instantly as my teeth pause away from her pulse point. My eyes widen in pure frustration as a familiar, urgent voice crashes straight through my mental barriers.

‘Kai! Sorry to barge in your mind like this, but I think you’d want to know this immediately,’ Damon’s voice sounds through the mind-link.

I grind my teeth together, roaring back at him in my own mind. ‘What the fuck do you want, Damon?! This better be a matter of life and

death!’

‘Um, well…’ Damon replies, his tone completely serious and devoid of its usual humor. ‘The pack doctor just informed me that Roman is currently at the Academy’s general hospital. He was reportedly attacked and badly injured. He has blood all over his body, and his limbs are

broken.’

I freeze immediately as my mind instantly fills with confusion and surprise. Roman? Attacked? The bastard is a skilled Lycan warrior, he doesn’t just get his bones shattered by ordinary opponents.

‘What the hell happened?’ I demand through the link, loosening my grip slightly on Lyra’s waist. ‘How did he get injured like that inside the academy? Was there a breach again?’

‘Nobody knows the full story yet,’ Damon says, his voice grim. ‘But some of our perimeter scouts saw him leave the academy grounds hours ago on his own. And then, just a little while ago, he crawled back across the boundary line looking like an absolute corpse. His wrists and arms are completely snapped, looks like it’ll take a while for them to heal because it was broken unnaturally. My guess is a demon..’

A demon?? What’s Roman doing, getting involved with a demon? I have to get to the bottom of this. I have to see him as soon as possible.

Chapter 320

I let out a harsh, silent breath. Hold on, Damon. Keep the doctors working on him. I’ll be right there.”

I pull my consciousness back into the real world, a heavy, angry sigh escaping my lips as I slowly release my grip on Lyra’s neck and take a step backward. The sudden loss of her warmth leaves me freezing. Fuck. I want to mark her so bad but I can’t do it now when there’s an issue. When I mark her, she’ll likely feel some weakness from the blood rite of my marking, although I’m not sure since she’s not a fox. but with wolves, a mating mark cannot be rushed or done lightly.

Lyra blinks up at me, her blue eyes wide, dazed, and heavy with a dark confusion as she touches her unmarked throat. “Why… why did you

stop, Kai?” she asks, her voice trembling slightly. “So you really don’t want to mark me… right?”

I look at her flushed face and my chest tightens. I can’t tell Lyra what just happened to Roman. I absolutely cannot. If I tell her that Roman is lying in a pool of his own blood with shattered bones, her soft, empathetic heart will immediately take over, and she might want

to go and care for the miserable bastard. I refuse to let her cry over him.
