The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 321

Chapter 321

Lyra steps forward and blocks me from moving, narrowing her eyes with suspicion. “What is it? Did Damon tell you something through your mind-link?”

I pause, looking back at her in surprise. “How do you know that?”

Lyra crosses her arms over the oversized shirt, a small frown marring her forehead. “I know because of how you froze, Kas. Your whole body locks up, and your eyes go completely distant. You only ever look like that when someone is talking inside your mind.”

I stare at her as a chuckle escapes me. This girl is too smart for her own good.

“Just wait here, flower,” I command, my tone firm as I sidestep her and turn to the hallway. “I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

“No, absolutely not,” Lyra says, her footsteps hurried as she follows right behind me, completely refusing to stay behind. “I want to know what’s wrong, Kai. Is it about the attacker from last night? Did they attack the apartment block again? Are Amara and Isolde okay? What

about my brother, Nick?”

I stop walking and let out a long sigh, realizing that with her stubborn streak, I can’t keep this away from her. If I don’t tell her the truth, she will just panic and assume the worst about her friends.

I turn around to face her, rubbing the bridge of my nose. “Nobody attacked the dorms, Lyra. Your friends are fine. It’s Roman. He’s injured. He went somewhere outside the academy grounds early this morning and just came back with broken limbs.”

Lyra’s hands immediately fly to her mouth, her eyes widening in total shock. The color drains from her cheeks, and a look of deep worry instantly washes over her face. “Oh my god… Roman? Is he going to be okay?”

“The pack doctors are treating him right now,” I say, my jaw clenching at the sight of her worrying over him. “You need to stay here where it’s safe. I will go handle it.”

“Of course not! I’m coming with you,” Lyra insists without hesitation as she steps right into my space. “Roman is my friend, Kai. He’s been really good to me ever since I met him. He’s going to want me there, and I need to see him. Please.”

My inner beast growls loudly at the word friend. I step closer, trying to keep her pinned with my frame. “I said no, Lyra. It’s a pack hospital. It’s messy, and you need to rest.”

Lyra glares up at me, a fierce fire burning in her blue eyes as she steps on her toes to try to match my height. “If you try to lock me in this room, Kai, I swear to you I will find a way out, and I will never speak to you again. Take me with you. Right now.”

I stare at her stubborn, beautiful face, realizing I’ve completely lost this battle. With a frustrated groan, I run a hand through my hair.. “Fine. Fuck. Put your shoes on. We’re going.”

We sprint down the hallways of the royal block and head out into the chilly morning air, making our way quickly toward the academy’s medical wing. The sun is just barely beginning to rise, casting long, dark shadows across the courtyard.

As we walk down the road, Lyra pulls out her phone and clicks on the screen several times. She checks her messages, then looks up at me with a worried expression. “I just texted Amara and Isolde to tell them I was leaving the apartment. They’re already awake. They told me they’re coming to the hospital soon as well, and they’re bringing Nick with them. They’d probably all want to check on Roman as well since he’s also cool with them.”

Of course he is.

I roll my eyes but I don’t say anything. I just keep my eyes fixed on the hospital building ahead, my mind trying to piece together who

could have done this to my cousin.

When I spare a glance at the vixen beside me, I catch her already staring at me. “Kai?”

“What?”
